Isomer - You Are The Alien Invaders (or, Minecraft meets XCOM meets RTS)
WARNING THIS IS A DEAD GAME, THE DEVELOPER HAS NOT UPDATED IT SINCE AUGUST 2014 Isomer is an early access game which combines a bunch of different inspirations, but the core concept is that you're in charge of an alien spacecraft tasked with setting up a colony on some backwards planet and eliminating the locals. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvD290s9kT0
THIS GUIDE IS FOR AN OLD VERSION OF KSP.
"CAREER MODE" in this release is now "SCIENCE MODE" in the current release.
New, updated tutorial here:

Another update to my basic tutorial for Kerbal Space Program - this is designed for new players who want to learn to play the game in career mode, unlocking parts as we go. This should teach you how to build rockets, acquire science and ultimately how to get to other planets safely.
This tutorial is from an older version but it still works properly for Science Mode, if you select Career Mode you'll also need to manage your money and upgrade your buildings.

Having built a veritable space city in low kerbin orbit it is time to expand the kerbal empire to the mun, so we launch a mini mun station and tow it out to munar orbit.
Still 100% reusable, and all stock (Mechjeb was included on the lander, but not used)

Electric Propulsion is now a dominant force in space propulsion (pun intended) - in the last few decades more and more spacecraft have adopted Ion thrusters for orbit maintenance or deep space maneuvering, enabling performance that was previously beyond the capabilities of chemical thrusters.
There are Two main systems in common use, Gridded Ion thrusters are most used in deep space missions, while Hall Effect Thrusters are commonly found on satellites in Earth Orbit.

Interstellar mod adds a bunch of speculative technologies and attempts to do a good job of balancing these with existing KSP hardware, in particular it includes a science system for upgrading hardware and tools for harvesting antimatter to power your energy hungry warp drives.

Don't worry, kids will be back at school next week.
Taking the Red Oktober model and using it in a few different ways, unfortunately the mod dev changed the mod and now it's significantly lighter than it used to be. Still we come up with some interesting concepts.

Thanks to the power of editing you don't need to sit through the hour long process of me solving the colour changing shoes problem, it was hard, it was frustrating, you can't imagine the horrors.
Good thing that the next problem was an automatic cocktail making machine! Even better, I'd had a chance to think about how I'd store the data.

It's been a long time since I looked at this game and it's continued to improve in early access now. The 2d universe exploration and ship building game implements a lot of ideas even though it's still in development.

The KSP physics engine does not keep track of momentum when pumping fuel around, so by pumping fuel between parts moving at different speeds it's entirely possible to build a working reactionless thruster using Infernal Robotics and KOS.
