I shot at my pace today getting my hits but not going at breakneck speeds. Came in 2nd behind TimR. Could have gone faster in some of the stages as it felt really slow, but I would probably be dropping lots of points. Will try to gradually speed up at the next match.
A quick update video about the new enhancements I've made in the past few days. These include:
* added impact sounds to barrels, walls, doors and barricades
* added hit effects to barrels and walls
* added bullet holes
* made gridlines more accurate, now it's a 3'x3' square
* added gravel bay
* modified props a little to account for bullet holes showing through them
* moved prop selection menu to center of screen
* added NRA-D1 Tombstone target (in MISC)
* added activatable clamshell target
* added activatable dropturner target
* added sky rotation slider in sky menu
* fixed bug when hitting ESC during prop selection menu
* fixed target support collisions

The weather was awesome today for shooting, low 60s and the sun was out. The last stage was interesting, there were two drop turners that are not visible at rest on the right and I chose not to shoot it (after Sam's advice) and it worked very well. If it wasn't for the mike on the noshoot target, I would have gotten 8.5hf instead of the 6.59.

Only managed to squeeze out a 3rd place finish behind two masters. I didn't perform well, so many errors in execution, sloppy shooting and lazy movements. That said, Benton City is a great place to go drink wine and shoot guns. Not at the same time btw :)

Remember reading some comments about using VR as a training tool for firearms and how it can "get you killed on the streets". Thought I'd call out a few things that actually work to improve your shooting skills. Firearms manipulation, movements, and recoil control are things that VR will not be able to help with, not right now anyway , perhaps sometime in the future.
After having played around in VR for a few months, I've noticed that you can improve your shot calling, sight picture, sight alignment and transition skills using VR. My experience is very similar to dryfire and I believe if you "train" enough, you would be able to improve these skills in real life.

Was a messy match for me after a long hiatus. Haven't picked up my gun or dry-fired it for almost a month and it shows. I only managed to win my division because there were very few people shooting Open that match. Anyway, shooting is a perishable skill, practice often!!

Was a fun match today. The Custer Sportsmen's Club organized a match inspired by the upcoming Area-1 stages which was really interesting. It was a very close match against a buddy of mind JohnV from TN, we were trading 5-10points throughout the entire match until the last stage which became the deciding stage. JohnV edged out a better performance to win by 6 points total. Congrats on getting $1 richer ;)
This match was a mental match for me. I told myself to ignore everything bad and good that will happen. Leave the stage as is and move on. I was trying to get into a place where I can focus on shooting and not let anything affect me, especially worrying about my times, scores and the need to catch up to someone else.
Although I didn't win the match and was slow in some stages, I am proud to say that I've learned how to get into the zone and shut everything out. Now all I need to do is to trust that this works and shoot my best game every time. (Thanks Steve Anderson)
