Depstech DS500 Endoscope Borescope unboxing and review
I featured a small endoscope a few months ago that I bought from Banggood that connected to a phone or PC. It was fine for what it was but I've now upgraded to the Depstech DS500 self contained, all in one Endoscope or borescope.
It has an inbuilt rechargeable battery (charger cable included, USB C) that has a claim of 7hours run time, a 32GB micro SD card, a 5" HD display and 16.5 feet of semi rigid umbilical leading to a pair of cameras on the end which is only 7.9mm in diameter . One camera can look straight ahead while you can switch to a sideways view, although at a lesser picture quality. When using the hand held device you can take photos of what is displayed in the 5"HD display or in fact record it all to video! There is not a sound option. A few tools are included that can be attached to the camera head such as a magnet or hook, just in case you loose your keys!
For your money you also get a semi hard storage case which should keep all the bits and pieces together and safe.
I like it, and while I won't be using it every day there will certainly be times it will be invaluable.
Keep a look out on Amazon for a discount from the seller and when I bought it there was a hefty 30% voucher that could be used.

I've had a pillar drill or drill press for many years. This year saw me install a digital speed readout or Tacho.
Now you can see the installation of a DRO which will very accurately display the depth I have drilled into the work piece.
The DRO was an eBay purchase for only £24 delivered. The exact same item is also available for a lot more money so shop wisely!
I only needed 80mm of plunge (the max my drill press can plunge in one go) so bought the 150mm version and did a few mod's.
The "upgrade" went well and I'm very happy with the results.
There is at least one more mod to come for the drill so keep a look out on the channel. Hay, even subscribe and I'll tell you when it's available.

If you have watched my CNC Mill video you will know I'm making exactly that, a CNC mill. One of the many things I need for it are wheels. Lots of wheels. Normally they arrive as a bag of bits and you need to do some assembly by pressing the parts together. I have included a video on how to do this manually below. However after a few wheel assemblies the thumbs start hurting. This is where my wheels press comes in. Basically it will do the work for you, not your thumbs!

I like my Ryobi products and when Ryobi offered to send me this to try I was only too happy to say yes. Basically this device is a small mains inverter that is run from any Ryobi 18v ONE+ battery. The higher the amperage of the battery, the longer the run time of the inverter. It has a max mains output power of 150watts so will only be able to feed low power consuming devices.
Handily it also has 2 USB A outputs with a combined power rated at 2.4amp and a 2 stage led lamp.

I released a video a while ago showing some deep hole markers I had been using and found to be very good. One of the markers, a propelling pencil has been great apart form the fact I lost the sharpener from it. This is now an issues as its a pain to put a point on the lead. When you own a Land Rover Defender TD5 or any other LR for that matter, you do need to keep up on the maintenance. So when I was checking over the engine I found the waste gate mechanism seemed to be jammed. I've not worked on this part of the engine so it was a bit of a learning curve. I removed the actuator from the wastegate arm to see which had failed, the actuator or the arm. In my case the arm mechanise had gone bad. The shaft running into the manifold had seized. Very expensive! Luckily though with a 17mm spanner and a tin of WD40, slowly I managed to work the shift loose, just a little at a time.
A few minutes of careful persuasion totally freed off the arm. I was unable to find any information exactly how this arm should be refitted. Was there any calibration required? I'm still not sure but what I did was the following. I re-attatched the actuator to the arm after bolting in the actuator using the 2 10mm nuts. I took up all the slack in the arm using the thumb screw then gave it another turn and half. As stated in the video, comparatively speaking, the performance is now out of this world. I can only assume the wastegate had been stuck open a tad preventing me from getting full boost. This fix worked for me, and is still good, but don't go tweaking the turbo unless you know what you are doing or are prepared for things to go bad!

Well, this is part 3 where I show what I have done to upgrade my main feeder and show the results on tests before and after the upgrade. The details are below:
Final results to the main feeder where I swapped out the SDR Blog USB dongle (no LNA fitted) and the 10 meter coax cable. They were replaced with a 10 meter active USB cable, the Flight Aware Pro Plus USB dongle was installed very close to the antenna, (Actually within the pole as was all of the cabling) along with 10 feet extension to the Antenna pole.
Data was captured over 2 day (Weekday) blocks to show before and after results. The results for each block were averaged (Day1+Day2/2 for each data set) A longer data capture period would have been better though.
Before upgrade:
Aircraft seen: 1927
Max distance: 233nm
Positions reported: 399570
Hits reported: 8090505
After upgrade:
Aircrafts seen: 2156
Max distance: 247nm
Positions reported: 564746
Hits reported: 1087017
Percentage gain after upgrades
Aircraft seen: 11.88%
Max distance: 6.01%
Positions reported 41.34
Hits reported: 34.36%
Things to come. I may look at seeing how a Raspberry Pi Zero W responds. It would certainly be a cheaper way to make a feeder.

I have found myself working with Raspberry Pi's lately and as you may know they use a micro SD card for storage. As they are very small it is impossible to write on the actual card it self to identify that card. Now what I have found, certainly with Sandisk, they tend to give you a SD to micro Sd converter/adaptor. I have printed labels that can be stuck to the adaptor thus giving some record of what's what so long as you return the micro SD to it's SD adaptor you removed it from. Also I have found you can use an old heatsink kind of like a mini toast rack to placed the adaptors in. Certainly in my workshop I now have some order when it comes to storage.

I've owned a Bosch PHO 100 plane (planer?) for 3 decades and have only replaced a drive belt and recently a set of blade that I shattered on first usage! So rather than spend out on another set of blade for a 30 year old tool I decided to upgrade.
I went for Bosch again, the GHD 26 82D, due to the reliability of the old one. I hope I was right in that choice. Time will tell.
It feels very well made and not too heavy in use. The duel port for dust extraction is great for a left hander too. There is a nice length of cable so I found it easy to move around the door in the video with ease. A rebating jig is inclued as is a dust collection bas and a nice storage case in blown plastic. Not a bag like some manufactures give you!
Overall, so far I'd give it 10 out of 10. I'll report back if I have any issues.

I've owned a Land Rover Defender TD5 for a while now and I find access to the engine bay difficult because its so high. I need something to stand on to be able to get to reach in. I've used pallets in the past but I have now created something that will do the job safely and it was all made out of scrap I had around the workshop.
It did turn out a tad heavier than I would have liked but it saved over £50 on a commercially available one. So a result there!
