The date is October 11 1911, 2 weeks after the Italians went to war with the Ottomans. On September 29th, 1911, Austria-Hungary issues an ultimatum to Italy, telling them they had 2 weeks to end the war with the Ottomans, or they would declare war. 2 weeks pass, and the ultimatum is promptly ignored. On October 11 1911, when this animation starts, Austria-Hungary declares war. The reason of invasion and siding with the Ottomams are as followed: 1. The Italians recently fought against Austria with the help of France 3 different times in the Italian unification wars, taking territory from the Austrians 2. The Ottomans and the Austrians have 2 common enemies, Russia and France 3. The Austrians want to contain the growth and aggression of the Kingdom of Italy 4. Austria felt that Italy was not doing their fair share in the Triple Alliance 5. Austria wanted to regain old territories they have previously lost, and showcase their power to the world stage.
