Tajik music is closely related to other Central Asian forms of music. The classical music is shashmaqam, which Uzbeks also developed classical music of Tajiks[clarification needed] and made their distinctive own.[1] Southern Tajikistan has a distinctive form of folk music called falak, which is played at celebrations for weddings, circumcisions and other occasions.

The Bukharian Jewish Ensemble "Shashmaqam" under the leadership of Fatima Kuinova and Shmuel Kuinov, sing songs from the traditional genre Shashmaqam, the music of the peoples of Central Asia including Bukharian Jews, Tajiks and Uzbeks. This song is sung in Tajik. Most Bukharian Jews, Tajiks, and Uzbeks sing songs like these at different festivities such as weddings. The language of the Bukharian Jews is Tajik, more specifically a Jewish dialect called Bukhori, or Judeo-Tajik, and is very mutually comprehensible with colloquial Tajik from the Northern Dialects.
