UC Berkeley has taken global warming and environmental protection seriously, establishing many new energy-related research centers, including the new Energy Biosciences Institute, which will focus on better technologies for producing biofuels — fuels made from plants. Every year UC Berkeley chooses one book for all of its faculty and incoming students to read over the summer and discuss in the fall. This year's book is the inspiring Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson, who will deliver the On the Same Page program's keynote address on September 7, 2016.
