he Motors TV Series in 2006 saw a revolutionary new reverse grid format for karting, with a championship held as part of the Saturday practice days at the Manchester & Buxton Kart Club (MBKC) meetings. This is the Minimax race at Round 2, where the championship positions after round 1 saw drivers taking part in a single reverse grid race in the last session of Saturday practice. Championship leader starts last, 2nd alongside, and so on. Classic and unique karting times that many are saying should make a comeback. Watch the entire season here, with the 2007 season uploaded soon, with a new race uploaded each day for the next 80 or so days!
To find your local kart club and circuit in the UK, go to The Association of British Kart Clubs website at www.abkc.org.uk. There will be a kart club and circuit near to where you live.

This filming was carried out by a highly experienced BNUCs qualified pilot after due consideration of the risk and consultation, agreement and co-operation of the MSA Steward, Race Officials and talent (in this case the drivers). The flight plan allowed for flying a rectangular pattern on the infield of the race circuit, at high speed using the "course lock" setting, enabling the pilot to not only maintain an accurate heading without drifting over the track itself, but to also make dramatic heading changes that follows the karts on track (Pilot flies left to right, backwards down to the final turn, right to left following start/finish straight, then forward up main straight). Carried out by Pilot, Camera Operator and four observers.
Due to the high speed nature of the flight, skill required by the pilot to maintain control and follow the karts without incursion over the track, and highly skilled operation of the camera gimbal to follow the karts and keep them within the frame, this has to be one of the most amazing uses of this aircraft. Drifting over a few fields or a valley to get some nice panoramic images this is not! This is high speed, high skill, maximum concentration stuff. Pilot and Observers linked by radio.
