Using the Elecraft KX2 to do QRP ham radio CW work on a mast. This 9:1 antenna on the KX2 is a winning combo. Watch me make QSO contact after QSO contact.
In amateur radio, QRP operation refers to transmitting at reduced power while attempting to maximize one's effective range. The term QRP derives from the standard Q code used in radio communications, where "QRP" and "QRP?" are used to request, "Reduce power", and ask "Should I reduce power?"
QRP KX2 “stealth” transceiver can go wherever your imagination takes you. Thanks to state-of-the-art construction techniques, it’s only 5.8 x 2.8 x 1.5” and weighs just 13 ounces—making it the smallest full-featured HF radio on the planet.
Yet it puts out up to 10 watts, covers 9 bands, and shares many features with the KX3. It also works with the KXPA100 amplifier.
To maximize your freedom to roam, you can outfit your KX2 with an internal 2.6 amp-hour Li-ion battery. Current drain is as little as 135 mA, yielding up to 8 hours of typical operation on a single battery charge. There’s also an internal automatic antenna tuner module (KXAT2), which can tune a random wire, dipole, or whip on multiple bands.
A rear tilt-foot angles the KX2 for use on any surface, from desktop to park bench to rock. The KX2 also makes a great moble rig, and can even be used hand-held. It includes a built-in mic for HT-style operation.
The KX2’s powerful 32-bit DSP offers features dual watch, stereo audio, user-programmable filter bandwidths, noise blanking, noise reduction, and auto-notch. RTTY and PSK data modes are built in—no PC needed—as well as a memory keyer and digital voice recorder for transmit.

More than 25 years ago, FIRST® became a game changer in the STEM world. Over the years, we’ve built an incredible culture with our K-12 FIRST Progression of Programs that celebrates kids’ accomplishments through high-quality, inspiring, life-changing experiences, the culmination of which is our FIRST Championship. FIRST is the oldest and largest youth robotics program in the world, and now we can deliver the FIRST Championship experience to many thousands more young people worldwide!

Geographic Proximity
When FIRST announced the dual FIRST Championship structure starting in 2017, our primary intent was to make the life-changing excitement and inspiration of the FIRST Championship more accessible, available, and affordable to more kids and teams.
To stay true to this goal, geographic proximity became our first-order determinant when assigning teams from a given state, province or country to a “home” Championship, especially when those geographic regions are viewed to be within a reasonable driving distance of one of the Championships. Within this constraint, we then tried, as best we could, to balance the number of teams that feed in to each Championship, recognizing that the number of teams in any given region varies and grows from year to year. Importantly, we then aligned geographic assignments across all four FIRST programs, so that participants, Mentors, and Sponsors who support teams across multiple FIRST programs in a given geographic region will be able to support all of those teams at a single FIRST Championship.

SotaBeams Drive-on Antenna Mount - Begali Traveler Paddle - CW QSO
SOTAbeams MDCS-100 Drive-on Mast Mount makes it easy to operate from your parked car. Just drive a wheel onto the base plate and insert a mast into the steel sleeve. Perfect for operating from remote locations where other portable antenna mounting options are not available. Keep the drive-on mount in your car for a portable antenna system mount that is ready for any operating opportunity. This is a handy accessory for the well-equipped emergency communicator. Paired with the SOTAbeams Compact Travel Mast (SBM-TRAVELMAST), you have a complete portable solution for mounting a light-weight wire antenna.
NOTE: This mount is not suitable for the SOTAbeams Mini Telescopic Pole or the Tactical 7000hds.
The recommended maximum telescopic fiberglass mast height is 33 ft. (10 m). Guying recommended; guying is required in windy conditions or when using antennas that exert a significant "pull". For some slim masts you will need to shim the sleeve to get a proper fit.
Made of mild steel with an attractive silver painted finish it will give many years of service. Great with guyed aluminum and fiberglass poles up to 2.25 in. diameter (58mm) at the base section. It is quick and easy to assemble and take apart for transport as the stand separates into two parts.
