Sudo for Windows!? (Become Admin in Powershell and CMD)
sudo is a great Linux command for getting root privileges (admin privileges in Windows). Out of the box, becoming Admin in Windows requires you to open a new Powershell Window as Admin or CMD Window as Admin. Luke Sampson created an open source tool called "sudo for Windows" which allows you to become root in Powershell or CMD (aka sudo for Powershell or CMD). In this video I show you a quick demo of sudo for Windows, why it's useful and I show you the commands for installing sudo for Windows.
Here I talk about the classes I've taken as a 4th year Ryerson Computer Science student. Both compsci classes and liberal courses. Note that I haven't taken them all, but I hope you guys get value out of this!

Also, I am not affiliated with Ryerson University in any way, nor do I claim to be in the video. Thanks.

In this video I show you how to use Git more effectively by using a proper gitignore file. With a .gitignore file you can prevent Git from uploading unnecessary parts of your codebase, for example you can use a .gitignore to prevent uploading your node_modules folder filled with 10000 files. I show off the tool https://www.gitignore.io/ which is super useful for starting Git projects with a proper gitignore.

I hate Reddit, but it gets me traffic. In this video I explain why reddit is the #1 biggest time waster for young males. If you want to quit reddit, I give a step-by-step guide on how to quit, reddit alternatives and how to install Stayfocusd.
Reddit is also becoming more centralized recently and this is really interesting: it's slowly been swallowing smaller and smaller sites and taking over the internet. Niche communities are especially moving to Reddit.
Honestly I find that people on Facebook groups are actually much more positive and responsible than people on Reddit. Sharing content on Reddit is also getting harder and harder.

Dual booting Windows and Linux on the same drive can be tricky. In this video I explain how to dual boot Windows 10 Pro and Kubuntu Linux at the same time. More specifically I explain how to dual boot Windows and Linux ON THE SAME DRIVE.
I personally have been dual booting Kubuntu and Windows for a couple days and I think it works fine. Dual booting is the best of both worlds: I found the performance of a virtual machine vs a dual boot to not even be close. Here's my method of dual booting on a single drive without losing data.
Don't have a USB drive to install Linux? Get one here: http://geni.us/vZ0sb
Dual booting on the same drive is not as good as having 2 drives, but since I'm dual booting on the ThinkPad X390 I can only have one SSD. At the end of the day while dual booting there is always the risk of having your dual boot crushed by Windows update, unfortunately but I have not experienced that.
I divided this tutorial on Dual Booting into a few parts: Shrinking the Windows partition, sharing a drive for your dual boot, installing Linux on the Linux partition, mounting your Windows drive on Linux, automatically mounting with fstab and setting defaults for grub.

Linked In "coffee meets" aka "coffee chats" are a stupid idea. There is no reason for someone to go on a "coffee meet" with you. I think it's a really selfish thing to spam LinkedIn messages in the hopes of finding a job or getting mentorship. You don't need mentorship from people on LinkedIn, and if you want to find a job you're better off working on your portfolio, GPA, academic research, etc. Coffee meets are complete BS. Don't fall for the coffee meet or coffee chat meme. Also check out Joshua Fluke's channel for some good LinkedIn cringe.

facial is a Python project I've been making in the past 2 days. facial is a command line program written in Python, OpenCV, face_recognition and etc. Facial has the capability to detect faces in a photo, blur faces in a photo or black out faces in a photo: all from the command line. It is also a Python module and you can use the blur_effect method in your own Python scripts to detect and blur faces. You can use this in a bash script to blur or black out faces en masse for example. Try it out on Github!
I was originally going to use facial to create a face censoring API of some sorts but the performance was not as great as I'd like. if someone is good at machine learning or multithreading or computer vision and could submit a pull request on Github I'd appreciate it!
Get facial here:

Please remember to get 64 bit Python and install the dependencies!

Do you need to learn Javascript before learning React? In my opinion you don't need to know Javascript before learning React. In this video I go over why I think that and I talk about how I learned React without knowing Javascript.
The course I mention in the video is "CS50 EDX React Native". The first 2 or 3 videos are pure Javascript ES6. Thanks for watching, remember to subscribe! I'll have a vid coming out about my first impressions about the Scrimba.com React Bootcamp soon!

Here's my room tour as a computer science student at Ryerson University. In this video I talk about my room, camera, lighting, and also more computer science student related stuff like my ThinkPad laptop, my mouse, my keyboard, the editors I use, my schoolwork and a bit more!
At the end I talk about my channel, why I want to focus on making more content related to programming, React tutorials, React Native tutorials, Android Dev tutorials and more. I hope to hit 10K subs by the end of next year, wish me luck! Hopefully next year my programmer room tour will look at lot better.
A lot of my friends wanted to see my room tour and I thought it would be a fun video idea to make. If you want to chat, join the Discord below or @ me on twitter below! If you have any questions about computer science, programming or life as a computer science student ask away!
