Hand painting a silk altar cloth - time lapse
My process (sped up so it doesn't take ages), for hand painting one of my silk mandala altar cloths. This is 100% crepe de chine silk.

It's a water-based resist (or gutta) that I use to draw the outlines in the first step, and then mix silk dyes and use sumi brushes to paint in the colors.

And it will be steamed to set the colors, now that it's all done.
