The movement from the Seikosha wall clock is taken completely apart and I try to describe what is going on for the benefit of people new to clock repair, Japanese clocks, or both. My name is Ab, and I invite you to join me as we try to get this wonderful old clock back into working order!
Unpacking a charming English Art Deco clock made by Fattorini & Sons, from the 1930's I believe. Hope it's not broken!! This kind of clock was considered very high quality at the time and you don't see them for sale very often. My name is Ab and I welcome everyone to take a quick look at this nice old clock with me! This clock will need repair and servicing but that will be for another time.
This video originally came out in April 2021 wherein I talk about Youtube forcing small channels to have ads and also show some neat old clocks that I bought. My name is Ab and I love old clocks! Thanks for joining me on the journey to get them up and running!
Undertaking the repair of an early 1900's antique Japanese Seikosha Wall Clock. In this first episode everything in and on the case is removed. A really nice clock, seems to be well made. My name is Ab, and although I primarily have antique American clocks, I'm really enjoying and enjoying this Japanese clock, and I invite you to join me as we take a closer look!
Lecture explaining the history of Japanese Meiji clocks from 1870-1912 and beyond. Explaining why they look like western clocks and how they came to be. Two examples shown are from The Meiji and Seikosha Companies respectively. This is an updated version of my original lecture.
Correction: In the video I state that the period after Meiji;s death in 1912, was called the Showa(Hirohito) period. The Showa period did not start until 1926. Between 1912 and 1926 there was Emperor Taisho(Yoshihito), but he was totally eclipsed by his fathers greatness/reforms, and in the world of clockmaking was an insignificant time. Clocks made during his reign were still considered Meiji clocks.
Hello to everyone, my name is Ab, I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video, and hope you found it to be informative.
Viewer John Helt pointed out in the previous video that my Japanese clock said Made in China at the bottom of the dial! Even though that made me feel like a donkey, which was my fault, I made a correction video here. Thank you so much John!
My porcelain camel clock case might be only vintage but the clock inside it is antique. Wish I knew more about it, but I did learn some things about camels in my research. One hump or two?? My name is Ab and I invite you to come along and see this cute clock!
