A few ppl have asked for more info on using a fridge compresssor as an air pump in the past so I thought I'd show y'all my silent compressors to give an idea on how to construct one.
The most important thing is a pressure regulator and cut-out switch to ensure the tank dosn;t over pressurize and burst. these compressors can put out a lot of pressure.
The Tandem SC15's that i have as a permanent workshop compressor barely become warm when charging the tank from dead flat to 100 PSI, they are rated at roughly 3/4 HP each and have no trouble seating tire beads, spray painting or running a small sand blaster.
Lots of cool stuff here now!. Amp meters are for sale at $45 AUD each with clamps and CT
I can pull the main switches too if you need serious current breakage!
I only deal through Paypal on international orders. money orders are accepted in Australia.
Drive was pre-mangled at the scrap yard, but it was the most complete unit I could find out of the 6 or so that were dumped by Blue-scope Steel during a line upgrade.
I wonder when those 150kw DC motors will show up at the scrap yard?
Not a hard thing to do, just need suitable levers and a bit of manual labor!
a nice slimy solution of soap and water makes it a lot easier too!, or better yet, get a can of bead lube if you intend on changing tires often.
