I've always enjoyed this song and it was a difficult one to get through, not because of the range of the piece but because it means so much to me. Gets me a little choked up singing it. I do love to hear Guy Penrod perform this piece. What do you think Sonja, did I do it at least a little justice? ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_f39f6i_ZE
The Saddest Strawberry in the Land is an original song from an original animation I created. This marks the start of my "re-focus and re-fire".
The Saddest Strawberry in the Land is something that just came to me when I was working on my animation "Sad Sam, the Strawberry Man". While I have the underpass video up, I've also put up the animation with background music I also created. I decided to contrast the voices; the underpass took on a more "legitimate" style while the animation voice was in keeping with Sad Sam's voice, or what I hear his voice to be in my head.
I love video and animation is my favorite genre. For many, many years, I've marveled at individuals who can take the imagery in their heads and put it out for the world. I can't paint, but I'm learning how to illustrate and I'm loving every minute of it. I have a ways to go before I would call myself a legit animator, but I'm getting better. I love my job at the shelter, but I'm looking at a "re-focus and re-fire" time happening in the future. It is my hope that animation creation will be something I can make a little money. It would be cool to continue to do the things I love AND get paid as well.

Lyrics:
I'm the saddest strawberry in the land
I try to do the best that I can.
All I want is to be free
But all the people just want to eat me.
I'm the saddest strawberry that I know
I wish that I could go dig a hole,
But alas I know that's not my fate
I'll be eaten up with ice cream and chocolate cake.

This song is a commentary about how the main body of Christ is ignoring their marching orders given by Christ and opts for a more worldly approach towards getting people into the pews. While this song doesn't speak to all Christians, it does speak to the churches that seem to be watering down the message, not making it too spicy for the weak tongues of the world. The song starts out with a supermarket scene. You overhear a light Jazz swing with "Call Me Irresponsible" lightly sung in the background. The "clerk" is calling out price checks and diverting the customers attention towards superficial things, all the while, the one "product" is being ignored. Rising in the background is a trumpet-type of sound growing in intensity, until it's the only thing you hear. The song suddenly cuts to "the prophet", speaking a dyre warning to the flock.
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
Brothers, can you hear me
Sisters, don't you know
Time is drawing nearer
and soon, we got to go
So why are you restin'
in the middle of the race
and feeding the blind
with ice cream and cake
Refrain:
(ahooh, ahooh)
Are you blind?!
(ahooh, ahooh)
Are you asleep?!
(ahooh, ahooh)
The trumpet gonna sound
(ahooh, ahooh)
Better get back up on your feet
Verse 2:
Brothers and sisters
listen to my plea,
you got one eye on the world
and one eye on the King.
When you stand before the man
what you gonna say
when you come up empty handed
on that final day?
Refrain:
(ahooh, ahooh)
Are you blind?!
(ahooh, ahooh)
Are you asleep?!
(ahooh, ahooh)
The trumpet gonna sound
(ahooh, ahooh)
Better get back on your feet
Verse 3:
Sisters and brothers
time is growin' short
the judge is a commin'
with His verdict in His sword.
Where will you stand
on that final day?
Will he find you naked
confused and ashamed?
Refrain:
(ahooh, ahooh)
Are you blind?!
(ahooh, ahooh)
Are you asleep?!
(ahooh, ahooh)
The trumpet gonna sound
(ahooh, ahooh)
Better get back on your feet

Affinity Designer 2 can be used to create 3D illustrations. This video will show you how I made “Patina.” You can use these techniques for your projects.
This video also verifies that my art - no matter the simplicity & crudeness - is made by a human being and not A.I.
“Patina” files link to Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/aks4208m5n5ehqi/AAA-etG8h_TylHF4sftFWGr4a?dl=0
Steps used to create this image in Affinity Designer:
1. Create a circle (ellipse).
2. Use the 3D effect found within the “Quick Effects” on the ellipse.
3. Click on the gear to gain access to more settings.
4. Choose where the light source will be placed and copy the azimuth and elevation numbers.
5. Go into the “Pixel Persona.”
6. Find a brush of your choice and choose a color.
7. Paint on the ellipse.
8. Select your pixel layer.
9. Choose the “Bevel” in the quick effects tab.
10. Play with the settings until you get what you desire.
11. Input the azimuth and elevation numbers you copied.
12. The effect will “carve” the brush into the ellipse. If you want the brush to “stick out,” continue.
13. Go to your “Highlight & Shadow” section within the bevel effect.
14. Switch the back to white and white to black.
15. Make sure your blend modes correspond to the white (“Screen”) and black (“Multiply”). You can choose any color or blend mode you wish.
You are finished with the steps.

Battle Hymn of the Republic is an appropriate song for today as we remember our fallen.
Battle Hymn of the Republic seemed to be a "common sense" song for this Memorial Day. I can't even begin to show my appreciation for the men and women, past and present, who put their lives on hold to serve this great country so this bald guy that loves critters can sing under an overpass. I've known many service individuals and I have the utmost respect for them. At one time, I was going to be a Navy man, but my eyes kept me out of service. Battle Hymn of the Republic is my small gesture to all those in the armed services. Thank you for serving our country; this American is grateful and proud of you.

Lyrics:
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored,
He has loosed the fateful lightening of His terrible swift sword
His truth is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps
l can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps
His day is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnish`d rows of steel,
"As ye deal with my contemners, So with you my grace shall deal;"
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel
Since God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
He has sounded form the trumpet that shall never call retreat
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
He has sounded form the trumpet that shall never call retreat
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me:
As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free,
While God is marching on.
