A high quality swimming video of a Breaststroke swim. No distractions, no sudden cuts, no talking. Just swimming. Enjoy this swim video of breast and hopefully you get some ideas on how to swim a nice smooth breaststroke.
If you want me to illustrate any points, don't doubt to comment below and share your questions with me. I will make a video eventually illustrating the answers to the most common questions.
On this series of videos we will simulate swimming movements and engage the same muscles we use while we swim each stroke. We won't have an intro or a long outro. That is because we want you to be able to play the video whenever you are ready and start the workout. The disadvantage of this method is that you don't have a strong warm up routine structured. So if you feel like you need to warm up beforehand you can use this video: https://youtu.be/tsneJbHM8IM

This is my friend Daniel Torres. He has broken several mexican backstroke records. We recently went to film his stroke and realized that he has been swimming backstroke wrong! Chances are a lot of us are doing the same mistakes. So stick around to see how you can improve your backstroke technique.
We shared some of these tips on our instagram page before this video and we had a great response. So make sure you follow us there if you don’t want to miss anything.
Backstroke is not an easy stroke, specially because you don’t see how you are pulling water. On the other three stroke at least you see part of your stroke. Because of this you could go years and years pulling water wrong. This is what happened to Dan.
See at the beginning of the stroke he was pulling water outwards, then extending his arm to far out giving him little leverage. At the end of his stroke he was pulling water inwards. Now even with those mistakes he could swim a 25.9 in the 50 backstroke long course and 56 low in the 100 backstroke long course. That is because he does a lot of things right, but in order to go faster he has to perfect his technique.
After 3 hours of us filming and swimming drills, we made a little bit of progress. We mainly worked on bending the elbow a little bit more. This seemingly small change gave him a better initial angle to pull water and better leverage in the middle and main part of the pull. One of the things he noticed is that it is way easier to swim this way, but it didn’t feel right. That is because he has spent 20 years applying wasted effort while swimming backstroke.
One of the things to note here is that he corrected a little bit his technique while going slow! Chances are that if he were to swim fast he would go back to his old inefficient stroke technique. But he knows that and that is why he will put in the work to fix that. So we will have to wait and see if he brakes those records again in the future. If you want to follow his progress follow him on instagram @danitorressama

They sent us a water drone! Or mini-submarine with a camera, whatever you want to call it. The company Chasing sent us their latest version of their water drone, the Gladius mini. I have to say I am impressed. Disclaimer: We did not pay for the Drone, they agreed for us to do an honest review, also if you buy the Gladius Mini through our link in the description within 30 days of clicking it, we will get a small fee.
The camera capabilities are outstanding. In some big ways, they are better than a GoPro. It has 4k video that you can adjust right on the screen. You can adjust the hue, contrast, sharpness and the bitrate. In 1080p meaning HD video, you can even control the frames per seconds. You can go up to 120 frames per second so you can really show every movement in slow motion. The two main things that the GoPro 7 camera is superior over the gladius mini camera is it stabilizes the video by itself via software and it has up to 240 frames per second. However, since the drone pretty much stabilizes itself there is no need for extra stabilization. Also, 120 frames per second is plenty if you want to slow things down and show the details.
For its unique capabilities we will for sure use it in our next swimming camp to correct techniques and have amazing footage. If you are a coach or you are in a swim team and you think your team can benefit from having one of these, click on the link bellow. Or contact us with any of your water drone questions to skillsntalents@gmail.com
I forgot to mention one thing… It is super fun to play with! I’ll see you later!

Swimming the individual medley is not easy. you must be good at all the four strokes or at least not have a very weak stroke. But you can always tell when someone slows down in their weakest stroke, usually breaststroke. To get good at your weakest stroke requieres a lot of time and practice but there is one thing you can get better at more quickly, transitions.
Transitions in the individual medley are a weakness that many people have that normally we don’t think on improving, but you can drop a couple of seconds if you get them right.
Usually, and this goes for normal flip turns too, beginners slow down in the turn. In fact they slow down before the turn. I suggest you speed up before entering a transition or a flip turn. To practice this is not enough to just start from behind the flags and swim to a fast turn, you must practice this every time you swim. because one of the reasons we slow down is fatigue and during a race you will be fatigued and won’t have time to think of any of this. We unconsciously think, there is a wall so I will get a mini rest for my arms and legs while I glide and push off the wall. So to get good at speeding up in the flip turns, you need to repeat to yourself “good, there is a wall, I’ll speed up and gain some advantage on my competitors” Then use that last two strokes to get yourself close to the wall fast and use your core to bring your legs to the wall and push off as hard as you can to then do some dolphin kicks or breaststroke pullout and do a few quick effective strokes.
We have talked about all these transitions, so I’ll put a playlist at the end where you can learn each transition, specially the backstroke to breaststroke, which is the most challenging. But now let’s see some racing strategies that I suggest for each type of swimmer.
If you are a butterflier you need to go out in front, so push yourself a little more than your competitors. Just enough to get ahead. Put in a lot of effort in your weakest stroke, which is usually breaststroke or backstroke and give everything you have left on the freestyle part.
If you are a backstroker use the easy speed of the dive to get you to a comfortable but fast butterfly. Don’t get too far behind the butterfliers. Then push yourself on the backstroke and get ahead of them. I know your weakest stroke is breaststroke so don’t let them catch you before the freestyle.
If you are a breaststroker you have a secret weapon. Try to stay close to everyone on the first half of the race and then blow past them in breaststroke and they won’t have enough energy to catch you on the freestyle.
If you are a freestyler, do you even swim the individual medley? I don’t think so. I’m kidding. You are probably used to going out fast on the butterfly, but I sugg

Swimming is not only hard work. If you are creative with it, it can be fun. Even though it is our job, we always make sure to have fun. It might not seem important to you, but for us it is our way to relax from the hard work and let our ideas evolve. Usually when we come back to our serious work we are more motivated. Go ahead, be silly, be creative and relax!

Getting cramps while swimming can feel awful, but the good news is that there are ways to prevent getting a cramp.
Mainly we swimmers get foot cramps or calf cramp. There are three main causes for this. The first fatigue or lack of fitness. when you are tired or out of shape it is more likely you will get cramps. The second is dehydration. If you are sweating electrolytes while you are in the pool and you don’t replenish your probabilities of getting a cramp go up. The third and last reason is improper warmup or the lack thereof.
Ok but what do you do if you get one? First go to the edge, a lane line or stand on the floor with your other foot if you can. Now stretch your ankle like this in dorsiflexion. Then, massage your calf or foot. Drink electrolytes if you have them at your disposal and continue with your swimming, starting slowly.
If you don’t want any more cramping while swimming remember to sleep well and get in shape, stay hydrated with electrolytes and warm up properly before entering the pool.
If you go to the pool and don’t know what to practice or you don’t have time to prepare your own workouts we have good news! We have an online swim team that is growing everyday. That is because everyday we have a new workout with three different levels of difficulty to choose from. I myself use them to swim three times a week. I just log in, download the PDF and take it with me to the pool. It’s extremely practical and cheaper than hiring a coach. The first 80 people to use the code “CRAMP” get a 40% discount off their first month.

On this video I will show you 4 breathing exercises you can do to maintain a better, more horizontal position while swimming smooth easy freestyle.
The first exercise is to Grab the wall with one hand, take a deep breath, put your face in the water and kick just enough to put your body in a horizontal position.
Practice this exercise on both sides, breathing to the left and breathing to the right, until you feel comfortable with the movement and the breathing technique.
The second progression is very similar but you will have a kick board instead of the wall and you will also do full strokes. Kick about 6 times and then take one breath and a stroke.
The third exercise is the same as the second but without a kick board. Usually swimmers have a preferred breathing side but it is of good practice to learn how to breathe well from both sides.
The fourth exercise is simpler. Just kick with your arms down and move your head to the side to take a breath. There is no arms’ movement. Focus on maintaining the hips high on the surface of the water and take quick breaths the same way you practice on the other three exercises.
Now you are ready to do the whole thing! Swim one length of the pool on the smoothest freestyle you can master, while taking short quick breaths. Try breathing every 2 stroke, every 3 stroke and every 4 strokes. Notice the difference. Stop at the other end, control your breathing and do it again.
