A journalist unlucky in love and out of a job, finding no consolation from his psychiatrist, drifts into the hands of adventurers whose activities are embarrassing a giant diamond corporation. But by making a two-mile radius and pushing them beyond it, you scatter their attack over a circular line 12 miles long. Just what Wellington would have done.'

First produced in 1925, Hay Fever is technically a masterpiece. A comedy of bad manners which starts with the arrival of four guests, invited independently by different members of the Bliss family for a weekend at their country house near Maidenhead.
The promise of an idyllic and peaceful weekend is quickly trounced by the self-absorbed eccentricities of the family who leave the guests to slink away humiliated, embarrassed and abandoned.
"It does not date it is in the highest mood of fantastic comedy, it is deliciously heartless and therefore deliciously alive and fresh" The Times

????????: Mystery Playhouse: The Boxing Day panto was going to be a flop - even for Bruddersford - but then the Demon King came on.
With Ian Wallace as Kirk Ireton, the Demon King and Marjorie Westbury as Dulcie Farrar in The Demon King by J.B. Priestley adapted for radio by Michael Hardwick and Mollie Hardwick.
AUTHOR:
John Boynton Priestley was one of the great figures in British theatre in the mid-twentieth century. Even in the twenty-first century he had two plays running in London: DANGEROUS CORNER, his first stage play, and AN INSPECTOR CALLS, probably his most famous play. Both have been produced repeatedly on radio, the former most notably in 1968, when Flora Robson again played the part she created in 1932, the latter most recently on the World Service, with Bob Peck as the eerie Inspector.
