It's a shame THE LODGE has a few inescapable issues, because the pitch was great. A family visiting a secluded cabin in the winter snow and woods, only to find something ominous and disturbing going on? And Richard Armitage & Jaeden Martell star? There's a lot that took this project in a promising direction.
But it's not without problems. And normally, because of where this movie ventures into, I would not upload it (the upside-down crosses I absolutely unapologetically had to blur are means enough). However, this is a unique case, and I feel my comments here will not only be an example piece you can refer to in the future when certain similar discussion for other films arise, but are something necessary to make mention of that hopefully will be of edification and honesty for you.
I have made it no secret on this channel that I am a Bible-believing, Jesus-worshipping Christian, and I certainly won't hide that in the future at all. So I can speak to this...there are deviant factions in our ranks (like, for example, WBC, among MANY others -- it's the price of living in a sin-stained, imperfect world) that misrepresent the church. Some are harder to see; others (like the one pointed to in this trailer) are just deranged and way off from what God wills. This, flat out, is a CULT. Anything that centers its spiritual message in self-inflicted harm like what is highlighted with this group is NOT OF GOD! And NO ONE should take them seriously.
If anyone in your circle -- heaven forbid -- approaches you as a follower of God and tells you that in order to have a relationship and redemption from the Creation you have to do ANYTHING as depicted in the trailer for this film, STAY AWAY FROM THOSE PEOPLE!
