Yes, believe the hype folks! I'll always remember where I was when I heard the news. The latest wheeze to try to coax folks and their wallets back to Oxford Street is a 25mtr tall hill next to Marble Arch where you're invited to hand over your cash to walk up the hillock. Yes, it ain't free. The PR for this claims that the views from the top will be stunning, it's a large roundabout full of traffic where they used to hang people although I think they have now managed to get the syringes out of the fountains, so bring the kids. I then go on to talk about the Coada Stone Lion or South Bank lion on Westminster Bridge. It was part of a set of three lions that adorned the Lion Brewery on the South Bank. Only two still survive the 2nd standing outside Twickenham Stadium with a smart covering of gold leaf. Some confusion surrounds when the South Bank lion was first painted red. It was a deep matt red when it was on the Brewery site, although pollution made it darker. When it was moved to outside Waterloo station it was repainted in a brighter glossy red colour. The paint has now been removed to show off the original coada stone which has nothing to do with Cobra Force.
