The REAL lessons for climate change from the pandemic
There have been countless articles in the last few months by environmentalists drawing lessons from the experience of the Covid-19 pandemic that could be applied to the issue of climate change. Do their lessons hold up? If not, what alternative lessons might present themselves?Let’s have a look.
The Mallen Baker Show is aimed at all people who see themselves as change makers, with commentary on issues and change movements with a particular focus on climate change and environment, social issues, free speech and corporate social responsibility.

The articles drawing lessons from the coronavirus for climate change
In this round-up of the week, America sees a week of protests and riots and police brutality and political manoeuvring and almost no social distancing. The result of the terrible events that led to the death of George Floyd.
What's the unfortunate truth why the protests are possibly going to result in the opposite to what they want? What are President Trump and Joe Biden doing to try to ensure events benefit their campaign for election? And what just happened that means we might get even worse violence further down the road?
If you want to solve the problem, you have to know what the problem is. And that’s what we’re getting wrong. Let’s discuss.

Over time, how we understand an ongoing issue, and aim to act on it, will evolve and change. We've been in the same phase on climate change for several decades - but right now it seems as though we may be entering the transition to the next phase. In this video, we look at why that may be, but why it will reach America later than many other places.

The highly successful investor Ray Dalio attributes his success to how he made a detailed study of history to understand how the world works. And specifically the cycles of how world powers rise and fall and why such cycles become inevitable, based on people following the choices and incentives in front of them. You can do well in good times and bad alike so long as you understand where you are, and what is likely to happen next. He wrote about all of this in his book, Principles for Dealing with The Changing World Order - why nations succeed and fail. It is full of fascinating insights. Let's have a look.

Film maker Michael Moore has, to say the least, caused a stir with his latest film Planet of the Humans. Is it a trenchant takedown of the hypocrisy of the environmental movement? Is it a massive misfire? Let’s have a look.
CORRECTION: For reasons that escape me, in this video I mistakenly refer to Steve Gibbs as the film editor, whereas it is, of course, Jeff Gibbs. No idea how that happened. Apologies.

At the recent UN summit, 15-year-old Greta Thunberg said that grown-ups had messed up the world. She was just the latest to express a common idea - in recent years lots of people have suggested the same. By failing to tackle climate change, the older generation has "betrayed" the young. In this video, I try to give a different perspective - one that goes to common ground, rather than turning important issues into "us versus them".

The whole world would like to know where Covid-19 came from. The WHO sent an investigative team to WUHAN to look into the matter. At the end of their short visit, they held a press conference. They said that they are still pursuing all possible avenues of inquiry – except for one. They’re definitely ruling out the idea it was released from the virology lab in Wuhan.
Is that a fair a conclusion? Or is something very odd going on? Let’s have a look.

Recently Tony Heller responded to my video debunking his claims of climate fraud by the authors of the US national climate assessment.
He suggested I pulled a nefarious bait-and-switch and madly plucked out of the air the theory that US farmers caused a global heat wave.
But does the science support his argument? Let’s have a look.

It’s retro news week, apparently. A massive leak of whatsapp text messages from the heart of government shows the unedifying reality of the UK’s response to Covid. The US energy department declares that it now believes a lab leak is the most likely cause of the Covid-19 pandemic. And, in this week’s short thought – do we believe in science or in magical thinking? I wish you’d make your mind up.
