Here's the next video I promised that shows you how I clean my custom JPL Precision Open Gun that I use for USPSA. There are many ways to clean a gun, but this one is mine. :)
I've resisted getting a slide racker on my USPSA Open Division pistol for a few years now. Didn't really see the need for it, until I shot a few major matches. There's always one or two stages that required you to load the gun while on the clock and I've always struggled with it. Racking my slide by pinching it is not the most efficient way to do it and always makes me nervous doing it.
So during the winter downtime I consulted with John from JPL Precision, my gunsmith, and he figured out a way to install it on my gun.
And O.M.G. what a different the racker makes. Now I feel a lot more confident while loading on the clock. Getting the racker installed also made me think about the other mods I used to have on my gun and went about streamlining everything. This made everything lighter, improved the balance of the gun and made gun handling easier.
I like it and you should to (if you don't have one yet)

Nick was one of our dearest friends, USPSA Grandmaster, Area Champion and all round great guy. Both Deri and Nick were instrumental in my development in USPSA and gave me a ton of tips on how to be better.
This memorial outlaw match was put together by a team led by Deri and Tim Ramberg. I teamed up with Jason Hall to form "Team Hall & Lokes".
There were four stages of crazy and difficult shooting which was super fun. You can see how much we struggled especially with the gear and stage execution but managed to squeak in at 11th place overall. Hopefully we get to see this match again next year.
We miss you Nick! You would have loved this match.

Last time I shot this match was maybe 3 years ago? It is a super frustrating but fun event, because everyone else is also experiencing the pain of shooting with a tiny bug gun. The rules are based on ASI and you have to use a gun that has a maximum length of 3.5 inches. I shot it with my Kimber CDP Elite II, officier sized 1911 in the America's caliber, 45 ACP.
You don't need a holster as most stages have on table starts or have you starting at low ready. Also, every mag starts with only 6 rounds.

Paul Bunyan hosts a Thanksgiving turkey match every year and since all the Open heat is away shooting Area 2, I got away with the W. :)

Finally get to shoot my Open gun again after a month long hiatus. I swear I've forgotten how to grip my gun. Our squad shot stage 4 first and you can see my trigger finger froze up in the first few shots. Anyway, I won two stages but screwed up two so I dropped to 4th place overall.
The sun was shining directly into our face in Stage one and four so much so I couldn't even see my reddot. I was just framing the targets in my C-more screen and firing away. Point shooting FTW!
Enjoy!

Nice stages with a rare Rhodesian wall. It was fun but I screwed up three stages so didn't do that well score wise. Came in third behind the usual GMs (and GM sandbagger).

Took the time to troubleshoot my old MBx magazine. Looks like it's dead (stage 2), hopefully I can get Adrian to help me fix it.
Was a fun match! Thanks Marysville crew.
