This chapter is a prelude to the seven bowls of God's wrath. This is not about the consummation of the age, rather it is about the commencement of Christ's kingdom in the earth. That His kingdom is to impact the nations of the earth is demonstrated from Scripture.

Sermon by Matt Trewhella on 9/12/2010
More details about the seven bowl judgments and the results thereof continue in chapter 19. This sermon demonstrates that this chapter is NOT talking about the 2nd Advent of Christ.
The sermon explains the influence of Christ's kingdom upon the nations of the earth. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords because His kingdom affects the nations of the earth.
Sadly, because most churches and Christians are busy playing the whore in our day, most magistrates in the earth today do not even know what their God-given function is - and we have a Christianity that has no intention of telling them. This sermon calls for a re-examination of current Christianity by properly exegeting this chapter.

Sermon by Matt Trewhella on 1/10/2010
This sermon answers when the war in heaven took place. The sermon shows clearly that the time of the devil's defeat and ejection from heaven is clearly connected with the incarnation, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The sermon sets forth the position that what is written of in this passage is not still off in the future, but has already taken place.
