Are you tired of using Postman? Is Postman slow? Is Postman confusing? Insomnia is a free app that's a great alternative to Postman. While it may not have a full team and ecosystem like Postman has behind it, Insomnia is still an amazing desktop app for testing REST APIs. In this video I talk about why I think Insomnia is better than Postman (even if it has less features): Insomnia loads faster than Postman, Insomnia's UI is better than Postman's, and in general I find the user experience of Insomnia much better than Postman. I also demo how to use Insomnia for testing APIs. I give an example of testing the API we're building in the video series of building a web startup from scratch. The API calls I make with Insomnia create a new user, sign in, create an item, delete said item and list the items from the REST API. NordVPN was hacked twice this year. The first NordVPN hack was a security breach on a NordVPN server made possible by the hosting provider's error, the second security breach relates to hackers brute forcing and credential stuffing NordVPN accounts. Some NordVPN accounts were hacked through credential stuffing since they used weak passwords, no personal data was leaked by NordVPN and NordVPN does not keep logs. To iterate once again, I am not affiliated with NordVPN in any way. In fact I don't even think you should buy a VPN at all (see Tom Scott's video on this topic) since it's usually a waste of money. This kind of attack could have happened to any other provider (the article says many VPN providers were targeted) and I don't think the hysteria towards NordVPN was warranted.
