Unsolved Animal Mysteries Science Can't Explain
There are a lot of unsolved animal mysteries in the world, and some strange animal behaviors that science has no explanation for. There’s also a lot of things we know to be true, but never realized that science hasn’t answered the how or why, so today we’re going to have some fun exploring some of the simplest questions in the animal kingdom that science still can’t explain.

Why Don’t Blue Whales Get Cancer?
Peto's paradox says, since blue whales are the biggest animals on Earth they should have the highest cancer rates, but they don’t. We know cancer is caused by changes to DNA, but what science can’t answer is which DNA changes lead to uncontrolled cell growth. We’ve seen that certain animals like elephants, naked mole rats and whales have much lower rates of cancer, but we’re still not sure why.

Cows Are Picky Eaters
Scientists went through thousands of satellite images studying cows around the world, and they noticed something strange. It turns out that cows aligned themselves with Earths magnetic poles facing North or South whenever they’re grazing or resting.

Why Is There So Much Life Near The Equator?
It is a fact that biodiversity increases as you approach the equator. This is true for plants and animals, even bacteria and viruses. Because of this, the majority of deadly virus outbreaks originate in the equatorial region to. Scientists can’t explain why there is more biodiversity near the equator than any other place on earth. There are over 30 theories…

Animal Migration
Different animals use different tricks to get from point A to point B, but like watching a good magician, we don’t really understand how they do it. An example would be homing pigeons and sea turtles. We know they use the Earth’s magnetic field to navigate, but we don’t specifically know how. Scientists think animals use lots of different skills and strategies to get around. Some utilize landmarks like rivers or streams. Others may use the position of the sun and stars to navigate. Some animals, like sea birds, simply follow their nose.

Cat Purr
what triggers a cat’s purr & why do they do it. I think the why” is the more fun unanswered question. I feel like if we could figure that out we’d be a lot closure to being able to communicate with our cats since they are a lot harder to figure out than dogs. Cats don’t just purr when they’re happy, they also purr when frightened at the vets office and even during birth. Are all purrs created equal?

How Did Snakes Lose Their Legs?
Long story short, until we can answer where snakes came, from we have no realistic chance of answering the question of how or why they lost their legs. What we do know is occasionally a snake is born with 1 of these long lost limbs and they are really scary
