Apple Returns to the NAB Show, October 9-13th in Las Vegas
Last time was 2011 when they announced 64 Bit Final Cut Pro.
Falls around the same time as new iPads and iPadOS events, could be talking Final Cut Pro 11 on iPad - could there be a major overhaul coming that integrates live streaming or something similar? Will it arrive with the M1X MacBook pro and Mac mini?

It's time to take another look at the Apple Silicon Roadmap, updated based on the latest information we have!
We have pretty stuff to look at, all courtesy of the resident RenderBoi @Apple_Tomorrow, who you should go follow on twitter. And follow me too while you’re there. @iCave_Dave.
So let’s get started. Last November as you’re probably aware, we got a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini, all with Apple’s M1 inside, which was followed in the spring by the iMac with the same chip, and the iPad Pro, with also the same chip. The M1 for context consists of 4 IceStorm efficiency cores, 4 FireStorm performance cores and an 8 core GPU, with options for 8 or 16GB of unified memory, which means a single memory pool that the CPU and GPU can access at the same time, eliminating latency from copying data between discreet memory pools.
So in terms of what we don’t have yet from Apple on the Mac front, we have the larger iMac, Mac Pro and our 14” and 16” MacBook Pros. iMac and MacBook Pros are expected to feature the M1X chip, with 10 CPU cores total but split as 2 Icestorm cores and 8 firestorm cores, basically doubling the CPU performance of M1. On the GPU front, the latest rumours have pointed to 16 and 32 core graphics options too, though its not clear if it will be a choice within the systems or if the 16 core graphics will come on the smaller MacBook and maybe a 24” M1X iMac too, and the 32 core option being reserved for the 16” MacBook Pro and 30-32” iMac (though I’m thinking we may get 31.5”). I’d hope we’ll also see a Mac mini with M1X then too.
But when? Well, I’m now coming to terms with the M1X powered Macs not coming in June, and although I’ve been hearing about a July 20th possible event, the latest information I’ve heard speaks of a September introduction, at least for the MacBooks Pros. I was always skeptical that Apple would introduce the M1X and M2 close together, but the idea of M2 now not arriving until Spring 2022 means September makes more sense.
So come the Spring we’ll likely see the redesigned MacBook Air with M2, quite possibly a Mac mini and an M2 powered iPad Pro too, as in the past the AX chips have typically come at this time of year, and M1 is the successor to this line. The new MacBook Air is expected to have the new flatter design language, dropping the tapered wedge shape its had since 2008. But what is M2? Our best assumption is the same CPU core layout as M1, 4 each efficiency and performance cores, along with a new 10 core GPU, but also with 9 core versions available at the entry level price.
I’d expect the rest of the M1 line to be updated too, so a new Mac mini, new 24” iMac but whether the 13” MacBook Pro gets an M2, or they move up to the new 14” chassis or just skip M2

Face ID with Watch ID?
Apple has released iOS 14.5 as expected (I know someone asked last week and I said early this week, so I'll call Monday a win!) It includes the App Tracking Transparency feature as previously discussed, but far more interesting is that Apple has added a new beta feature that allows you to unlock your iPhone with Face ID even when wearing a mask if you have your Apple Watch on, paired to your iPhone, with a passcode and wrist detection switched on.
It's not clear if Face ID still uses some of the face biometrics, or just the attention of looking at the iPhone. You won't be able to use Apple Pay on the iPhone with this feature or authorise purchases from the App Store, but if you're wearing an Apple watch and you need to pay, pay with the watch. I didn't actually set up Apple pay on my iPhone for about a month after getting it as I always pay with the watch when I'm out and about.
This adds more credence in my mind to the idea that iOS 14.5 would be launched at a March event - That's a nice feature to launch with alongside the Privacy features. The beta also included AirPlay 2 support for Apple Fitness Plus on big screens that aren't Apple TV, Joint Apple Card support, Support for PS5 DualSense and XBox Series X controllers, 5G mode for dual sim iPhone 12 and probably more stuff that people will find over the coming days.
Big Sur 11.2 Goes live!
For Mac users, Big Sur has also had a big update with better bluetooth reliability (which I'm super hoping for, although the issues seem to have reduced a lot recently!), a fix for external displays using HDMI to DVI converters occasionally showing black screens, more reliable saving of ProRAW changes in photos, iCloud issues, System Preferences not always unlocking properly and what we've all been crying out for, a fix for the EMOJI key. Thank Jupiter.
I'll be installing this in a day or so after establishing that it doesn't cause the apocalypse as there's always a chance that the update gets pulled within 24 hours, and I'd really like to still be able to make videos. I'll keep you updated.

#icaveanswers some rumors says that iPhone 13 can be iPad pro design. Like no notch and full screen with all of the sensors are top of the screen. Can it be really an ipad pro screen design?

M2 MacBook (Air) - iDrop News suggests the Air could be notch-less, but with a trade off, Tesla releases a $50 Cyber Whistle and will bluetooth improvements mean thinner AirTags? All sponsored by PrivateInternetAccess.com/iCaveDave for 4 free months with your subscription, more on that later.
If there’s one thing I can talk about all day long its new Macs. You know this, I know this. And today, we have some pretty legit looking new info on the MacBook maybe air, maybe just MacBook, so let’s talk about that. First of all I just want to acknowledge that I only know about these leaks because of Max Tech who also put out a video on this and the leaks came from LeaksApplePro on twitter. So how did I miss this on twitter? Oh, for some reason LeaksApplePro has blocked me. Not sure why, but I’ll just assume it was something to do with me being sarcastic. Seems like a safe bet. Luckily they also posted it on iDropNews.
First of all, this, whatever it is will be powered by the Apple M2, with Apple’s A5 generation cores inside which based on the performance difference between the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the 13 Pro Max are about 16.5% faster. That means the M2, if the scaling is the same would score around 8683 vs the M1’s 7453. That’s a decent increase in performance generation over generation. Internally we’re talking 4 efficiency Blizzard cores and 4 performance Avalanche cores. The BIG performance increase is in graphics performance however, with the A15 scoring a massive 14216 in Metal, 55% faster than A14. The M series chips generally double the A series GPU core count, so we could well be looking at around a 28,000 score vs the M1’s around 20,000. And remember, this is in Apple’s small, efficiency focused SOC that probably draws around 15W of power and can be built into a system without fans.
Also I just want to drop in here, Vadim at Max Tech mentioned that he thinks this MacBook won’t be out until later in the year and that Apple is doing a 2 year cycle. For the record, I do not agree - When we had the SOC code name leaks we heard that TSMC is already making test runs of the next MacBook Pro SOCs - ie M2 Pro and Max, that means they’re almost certainly already making production M2 chips so I think we’ll be seeing these MacBooks with M2 in the Spring event. But hey, I’ve always been too optimistic about timelines so what do I know.
But these leaks aren’t about performance, they’re about design. The leak reports to have Apple’s official CAD files of the device, and that file is shared so we can take a look around it.
Insert Cad Clip
So yeah, that looks chunkier than I’d personally expect for a MacBook Air, so could this just be MacBook - and if it is, will it have a fan? Because again, that thickness doesn’t suggest
