Ice FIshing in Wisconsin - I pretty much should stick to open water! Mean Ice Auger gets revenge!
In this video I head back home to Wisconsin and get to do some ice fishing. I grew up ice fishing and spend a lot of time on the waters in northern Wisconsin and the Upper Lakes of the Winnebago Chain. Countless holes drilled and plenty of fish on the ice! From swedish pimples to home made tip ups I did it all. Many hours spend on the ice but often times in a nie big ice fishing shanty that Wisconsin is known for. Sitting in the middle of the lake in a ice shack that the Mr Heater is up to 85 degrees and fishing in a T Shirt is the way to go! In this video I head back for a quick visit and was only back home for a few days. I needed something to do so my dad and I got this idea to go ice fish in the pond in the backyard. I know there is bass in that pond but we had a hard time getting any to bite today....a few perch and some small bluegills is all we were able to catch. Of course the Jiffy Ice Drill from 1974 gave me some trouble but nothing I couldn't handle!

Well this Spring still SUCKS! We had one warm day....the day before this tournament but come Sunday the temperatures fall and the wind blows to over 30 MPH! Why wouldn't it! I had some really good fish early in the week and found some places they are staging waiting to get there spawn on. Well it turns out the night before this tournament a major cold front comes in and shuts them down. The window of opportunity was only opened for a short time and when they bit we could only get 2 solid fish in the boat while loosing 3 studs! Those 3 plus our 2 would have given us a solid shot at the W. Cant loose fish in tough conditions and expect good results. These guys will catch them and of course someone did in this event!
I asked Brian to come along with me today and see if we could figure a few things out! Brian AKA Brian the Carpenter is a pretty good stick and had the goods to put a few solid fish in the boat early but if only I could have gotten something going early on it may have been a different out come.
In this video I do a little bit of practice fishing with Epic Eric the day before and tried new areas looking for some good fish. All we found was a few males staging in and near spawning areas but no big females to be found.

Getting harassed and told to leave is not fun while you are just trying to enjoy yourself while fishing. In this video the Harbor Master decides to come over and try to kick me out! I know my rights as a angler and know that I am allowed to fish any navigable water way. I told the guy I will not leave and I will continue to fish here because I know it is legal to fish these waters and he has no right to tell me to leave. I also told him to call the police and get the cops involved if he wanted to! I know there is a lot of anglers who have been told they cannot fish in certain areas and for the most part the person telling you to leave is in the wrong. Keep in mind though that some states do have laws regarding where you can and cannot fish. Make sure to check your rules and regulations for the body of water that you will be fishing. If someone does approach you and try to kick you out or yell at you just remain calm and let them know that you have every right to fish here. If they continue to harass you call the cops or get someone of authority to step in. Heck better yet bring out the video camera or phone like I did!

My fishing room is always trashed! Trying to keep my fishing gear organized!
VLOG # 6 trying to stay organized there is not whole lot of going on but work needs to be done. Time to get at it! Only to trash my garage next time I go fishing and do it all over again! I will clean this place up, put all my rods and reels away, organize all my tackle boxes, make sure lures are put back where they belong and re rig all my gear only to have to do it all over again next week!

In this video I decided to give an honest review of of a baitcaster that was recently sent to me. The company decided to send me a reel and in exchange for getting it for free I had to give a review and tag some social media post and promote their brand. Well in this video I explain how I have been getting approached by some off brand companies in the fishing industry. Some of these new tackle and fishing equipment companies are taking advantage of social media, cheap product and the people willing to get on a pro staff team/deal. I try to be straight up with everyone on my Youtube Channel and I will call out bad product. Products like this baitcasting reel that are cheaply made and sold at extremely low prices seem to be popping up everywhere! Travis Manson was born and raised in Wisconsin. He started fishing from the bank at a young age and spent most of his childhood with a rod in his hand. He started out fishing for walleyes and fishing in local walleye tournaments, but then in his mid 20's, he caught the BASS BUG and has been hooked ever since. He competed at the highest level in bass fishing on the Bassmaster Elite Series for a number of years. He is a full time fishing guide offering trips on the Chesapeake Bay for largemouth bass(year round) and trophy smallmouth bass guided trips in Upstate New York on Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River. His Youtube Channel is named after his passion for the smallmouth bass and will be used as a platform for "how-to" videos, on the water instruction, crazy on and off the water topics on the day in the life of a fishing addict! In this video I head up to Oneida Lake in New York for the 4th stop of the FLW BFL Northeast Division. I am hoping to find some good quality fish. I have had some great tournaments on this lake and I have had some poor finished. It seems I am not consistent here at all. I know it very well but the fish seem to have a mind of their own and go against all the smallmouth rules at times!
Caught a few good fish in practice and was able to find some area that are holding fish but it really was a tough deal come tournament day. Not only could I not put the fish in the boat but I also lost most of my video of the event! Oh well time to move on to the next one!

How to break in a Mercury Motor Mercury Pro XS Break In Period
Engine Break‑in.
In this video I go over how to break in a Mercury Pro XS 250 Hp Motor. This is the same with a Mercury 200 and 225 I believe. I included the instructions from the manual below.
I had a new power head replaced on my Mercury Pro XS and needed to break it in. The Break in is an important part of making sure your new Mercury Motor is going to give you years of worry free operation. I broke my motor in for the first hour on the Delaware River and finished up the remaining hours on Oneida Lake. I feel I am ready to go!
IMPORTANT: Failure to follow the engine break‑in procedures
can result in poor performance throughout the life of the engine
and can cause engine damage. Always follow break‑in
procedures.
Break‑in Procedure
Vary throttle settings during break‑in. Use the following suggestions.
First Hour
• Allow the engine to warm‑up for 30–60 seconds.
• Do not idle for more than five minutes.
• Run the engine the majority of the time between 4000–5400 RPM
(approximately three‑quarter throttle).
• Short bursts of wide‑open throttle for 10 seconds or less are
acceptable.
• Change the engine speed approximately every two minutes.
• Avoid trimming the outboard out (up) beyond a vertical trim
position during operation.
• Avoid using a hydraulic jack plate to raise the engine during the
break‑in cycle.
Next Three Hours: Change the engine speed every 10 minutes.
