I started this video while using up my allowance of vacation days from a previous year, and temporarily named it PTO Carryover (PTO are the initials for Paid Time Off). Then, as I continued working on it I got used to the name, so in the end I have decided to keep it.

Please enjoy the micro-tonalities of the flamenco voice!
Listening to notes "in between the semitones" may be jarring at first, but it is an authentic art that demands from singers a tremendous amount of control of their voices. Try singing these melodies yourself accurately, without allowing your voice to drift into the more familiar semitones and you will see what I mean.

Flamenco voices often suggest Sand and Blood, the bullfight, another traditional art of Spain. Bullfights are a festive celebration of bravery both on the part of the bullfighters and on the part of the bull, which belongs to a very special breed, called "toro bravo", that will continue to push and fight despite the pain. I personally attended the fiesta at Plaza de Toros de Cerceda where the video images were shot, and after the bullfight itself there was a big celebratory meal where the whole town was invited to share the delicious stew prepared from the bulls' beef.
