Sometime in late 2017 I decided to embark on a nomadic way of life; to travel and experience the world in a different way, to share magic and fufilll a personal journey.
What was my journey? From England to Hong Kong overland, with hitchhiking as my primary mode of movement. With nothing but a 15l backpack and £50 in my pocket, the route I traversed was as follows: UK (flying into) - Norway (Hornsjø Mountain) - Sweden - Denmark (Magleby) - Germany (Berlin) - Czech Republic (Prague) - Austria (Vienna) - Croatia (Zagreb) - Serbia (Belgrade) - Bulgaria (Sofia) - Turkey (Istanbul, Ankara) - (flying into) Hong Kong.
Whilst on this journey I had sustained myself by working, volunteering, wild camping and couchsurfing wherever I could. Many skills were gained in the form of serving as a Barista, Hotel/Hostel Staff, Bartender, Kitchen worker, Waiter and even as a Cleaner. These videos are what I documented whilst in this journey. Shot on my Sony Xperia Z1 phone.

This video captures the lonesome road. You need a bullet proof mind and diamond indestructible soul to traverse those roads.

This specific video was captured during my time working at The Ruthensteiner Hostel, the entire experience detailed in my audio reflection of my nomadic journey.

REHEARSAL SESSION FOR THIS COMPOSITION: https://odysee.com/@Jinnmago:3/A-Rehearsal-Session:e
There are certain peaces of card magic that called out to me. More than the trick themselves but the inherent nature within those pieces that called to me. Through those pieces I was led into a grander world of card artistry of that calibre.
This piece is not my creation but Dai Vernon's 'Cutting the Aces' and Rene Lavand's 'El Cumanes'. The only thing I've added is my own interpretation alongside my style and expression. I hope that I have done their creations justice and that it has come alive in my hands, in my own way.

Bringing my origins as a person, my background, my life experiences, my culture into my performances is important to me. And as you perhaps know, Hong Kong was a great part of my life (especially Temple Street); that's where my journey began. All of these I bring back so my audiences may savour just a slice of that wonderful world to the best of my ability (the Chinese accent, the way those people interacted, the gestures, the mindset). Origins are very important.
From an artistic point of view the story "Battle of Wits" has become my signature theme that has given birth to an approach hone my narrative and storytelling. I am interested most in cadence, feeling, clarity of presence (of the showman) and narrative.
