Title: Mystery_ An Alex Delaware Novel
Author: Jonathan Kellerman
File Type: Mobi
Subject:Mystery
Description:From Publishers WeeklyWhen Lt. Milo Sturgis of LAPD homicide asks psychologist Alex Delaware to view the faceless corpse of a young woman in Kellerman's enjoyable if only average 26th Alex Delaware novel (after Deception), Alex is shocked to recognize the gunshot victim as someone he and wife, Robin, saw the night before in a restaurant bar. A link turns out to exist between the dead woman and a sinister-looking man Alex and Robin observed outside the bar that night. An anonymous tip leads to an online service that matches sugar daddies with star-quality sweeties. The victim, who called herself Mystery, had a daddy, Markham McReynolds, whose wealthy, anything-goes family offers plenty of suspects, including McReynolds's wife, two sons, and two daughters-in-law. Kellerman's bantering detectives make it look almost too easy as they put together the clues and possible scenarios, despite the unusual solution to the crime. (Apr.) br (c) PWxyz, LLC. FromAlex Delaware, the L.A. psychologist and crime-solver, returns to tackle another tricky case. A woman has been murdered, her body mutilated. Homicide detective Milo Sturgis, Delaware’s frequent partner, brings Alex into the case, hoping for some insight into the psychology of the killer. Alex is surprised to discover that the victim is familiar to him; Alex and his girlfriend saw her at a restaurant only hours before her death. But how can Alex and Milo expect to find any usable clues when the restaurant is now out of business? The Delaware series has been going since 1985, and it’s long since settled into a comfortable formula, which is just fine as far as fans are concerned. The books star a pair of engaging protagonists and, for the most part, are well plotted. In addition, Kellerman usually tosses in a couple of twists to keep readers on their toes. This installment is nothing out of the ordinary for the series, but it’s a solid entry that will please the established audience. --David Pitt

File Type: Mobi
Subject:Children's Books
Description:From School Library JournalKindergarten-Grade 2-This exuberant kindergartner's newest adventure begins with a visit to the local beauty shop. Fascinated with sitting in the spinny chair and helping the beautician give her dad a haircut, Junie decides that her hopes and dreams are wrapped up in scissors, smelly hair gel, and fluffy towels. When her father warns her that it takes years of hard work to learn how to cut hair, the girl takes his advice and starts practicing...on her bunny slippers, on the dog, and eventually on herself. When she goes to school wearing three hats to cover her unfortunate sprigs, only her teacher and a session with the real beautician can save her. Parks does an excellent job of keeping her adult characters real, in charge, yet not overbearing. Junie's teacher's sympathy and understanding are heartwarming, and her dad's exasperation is completely believable. Junie is always the focus and the one who solves the dilemma, this time by confessing to her teacher and admitting that she might need some help. Brunkus's illustrations complete the child's exploits. The honesty and inventiveness of this savvy kindergartner make the Junie B. books accessible and completely enjoyable.br Linda Bindner, formerly at Athens Clarke County Library, GAbr 1998 Reed Business Information, Inc. Title: Nevermore
Author: Kelly Creagh
File Type: Mobi
Subject:Fiction:Young Adult
Description:
*And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore! *
-- from The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe
Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.
Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.
As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.
His life depends on it.
Title: Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M._ Audrey Hepburn, Br
Author: Sam Wasson
File Type: Mobi
Subject:Contemporary
Autobiography
Description:
Audrey Hepburn is an icon like no other, yet the image many of us have of Audrey—dainty, immaculate—is anything but true to life. Here, for the first time, Sam Wasson presents the woman behind the little black dress that rocked the nation in 1961. The first complete account of the making of *Breakfast at Tiffanys*, *Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.* reveals little-known facts about the cinema classic: Truman Capote desperately wanted Marilyn Monroe for the leading role; director Blake Edwards filmed multiple endings; Hepburn herself felt very conflicted about balancing the roles of mother and movie star. With a colorful cast of characters including Truman Capote, Edith Head, Givenchy, Moon River composer Henry Mancini, and, of course, Hepburn herself, Wasson immerses us in the America of the late fifties before Woodstock and birth control, when a not-so-virginal girl by the name of Holly Golightly raised eyebrows across the country, changing fashion, film, and sex for good. Indeed, cultural touchstones like *Sex and the City* owe a debt of gratitude to *Breakfast at Tiffanys*.
In this meticulously researched gem of a book, Wasson delivers us from the penthouses of the Upper East Side to the pools of Beverly Hills, presenting *Breakfast at Tiffanys* as we have never seen it before—through the eyes of those who made it. Written with delicious prose and considerable wit, *Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.* shines new light on a beloved film and its incomparable star.

Title: Honor Thyself
Author: Danielle Steel
File Type: Mobi
Subject:Romance
Description:From Publishers WeeklySupreme spinner of romantic yarns, Steel (_Amazing Grace_, etc.), in her lamentable latest fable of female courage, fortune, fame and fashion, features Oscar-winning actress Carole Barber, who, at age 50 and trying to write a novel, travels to Paris, scene of a tragic love affair 15 years before. On her first night in the City of Light, she's badly injured during a terrorist attack, after which she is left with no memory and no choice but to rebuild her life with a new perspective on her career, family and personal relationships. Steel flirts with themes of motherhood, second chances and writing, never settling on any one for long as Carole discovers the importance of pursuing her own desires while being generous to others and of keeping the men she wants in her life close but not too close. The best part is Carole's rehabilitation; as she reacquaints herself with family and friends, Carole the patient shows the patience author Steel lacks to probe beneath the surface. Though the message is murky at best, Steel delivers a sympathetic heroine and a scene or two that makes the heartstrings quiver. (Feb.) br Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc.
