The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin is reported to be in a Detroit Michigan Hospital under hospice care surrounded by close friends and family as she struggles to remain alive. This caused me to reminisce on her stellar career as the greatest Soul Singer of all time with a signature voice that could rouse emotions from anyone no matter how cold their heart may be.
The 76 year old icon has appeared frail in her recent performances last year all the while keeping her health concerns private. Her last performance was at an Elton John AIDS Foundation private gala last November of 2017.
While many are saddened by this news, I encourage everyone to send positive energy to her in the form of your thoughts, memories and prayers as we should all do for her family and friends as I know that they have they weight of the world on their shoulders at this time.

President Barack Obama had the last 8 years to prove what he was made of to everyone but the people who he ignored were the very people who roared the loudest when he was elected to being the President of the United States for two terms.
Yes, a strong case could be made against those same very Black people who complain the loudest stating that not much was done for them after the shock of a Black man finally being in charge of the United States had finally died down.
You see, Black people settled for a song and dance while other communities organized and brought their real concerns to the table minus the tolerance for the fluff, smoke and mirrors that we seem to fall for.
Maybe if we were tougher on the President we would have left him no choice BUT to face our issues and create opportunities and change in the same manner that he did for others. But this was not the case and what made it appear worse was the fact that he never showed any initiative to actually do anything at all after symbolically visiting many civil rights landmarks teasing us with the idea that our time had finally arrived.
But what should we have expected, because at the end of the day Barack Obama is a politician no different than the rest who will say whatever is was that you wanted to hear in order to cement his legacy regardless of who likes it or not!
