Created with a love for animation, here we have a cool and unique art-style for a fan game! And the title says it all, Hand Drawn Sonic 2 Reimagining is a hand drawn remake of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Game Gear/Master System (and a dedicated remake at that). Level layouts are completely new, and controls feel great thanks to the awesome Open Surge engine (kudos to Alexandre Martins) This demo is on the shorter side, but it lasted longer than I expected. Only criticism I could find is that I almost soft-locked myself, but I managed to find my way out of that predicament ;D but of course, remember that this is a work-in-progress. An alright fan game that deserves a bit more attention, Sonic Galaxy! And I've liked many of these games made with the Open Surge engine, so I decided to give this one a try. So, what's here in this game so far is a good start. But the downside is... it goes by fast. I wanted more out of it, but I'm satisfied with what's here at least. First of all, there's a hub zone, which is a nice touch for what would otherwise be a 1 act demo. Jump into that unusually huge ring to enter... Green Garden Zone! Well, this zone is mostly linear and there's not much to it yet, but it's a nice-looking zone - a good start to what could be something better. Overall, the visuals are nice in this game (especially the hub zone). Sonic's looking good too, looking mostly modern, but a little classic as well (maybe Dreamcast-era is the best way to describe his look). I can't lie, Sonic Galaxy flies by, and it's a bit broken in some places. But I still appreciate what's here so far, seems like there's a decent effort here (after all, I'm assuming this is TopHatter's first demo). Quick but alright fan game! Sonic Hoshi is a solid fan game! The zones have a lot of detail and the music is original... and awesome! Though it isn't complete, the effort clearly shows. There are 2 zones and 4 bosses. That's right, each act has a boss (which is something we don't often see in these fan games). Sonic even has a new move called the Star Dash, where he can dash mid-air in any direction. Useful for exploring! Overall, this fan game may be short, but you can tell it's been worked on for awhile. So I'd recommend this one. :) Note: I know I'm late to the party, but I'm still planning on covering all the SAGE 2021 games (or at least as many as I can). Better late than never? Haha. It's time again for some fan game madness, with the Sonic Amateur Games Expo! This event I've been looking forward to for awhile. Though, I wasn't sure when the trailer for SAGE '21 would be out, so it caught me by surprise haha. But you know I had to share my reaction, seeing all these great games for the first time!
