Andrew Lawton of True North independent media talked with Michelle Stirling at the FreedomTalk Conference about how films and media have the power to scare children on climate change, exploiting their impressionable minds. On Canada Day 2021, most of the Pacific NorthWest was sweltering under about a week long 'heat dome' with temperatures soaring to about 50 degrees Celsius in the town of Lytton, British Columbia, a town which, sadly, burnt to the ground on June 30, 2021 due to a wildfire, exacerbated by regional high winds. Likewise, in the Vancouver region, about 600 people died of heat related conditions. Climate activists and Minister Guilbeault have claimed that these unfortunate people, many who were isolated, elderly immobile, or had existing serious health conditions, died of 'climate change' - when in fact, they died of negligence and lack of preparedness. Climate change activists have been clamoring about 'deadly heat' and 'global warming' for 40 years. How could they not have been prepared to help people survive, especially when the enclave of green activists in the Vancouver region get billions of dollars from taxpayers and governments every year? If that heat wave was actually 'climate change', we should have seen a repeat this year - but as Michelle Stirling shows in this video, temperatures at the same time this year are only slightly over half of last year's extreme weather event. Extreme Weather is integral to climate change. More people die of cold than of heat. Watch Dr. Khandekar's presentation and learn more: Climate Change and Extreme Weather: Perception Vs Reality;

Can temperature records be misleading? Many people think that the commonly cited "global mean temperatures", often used for setting climate policy for things like GHG reductions and carbon taxes, are precise temperature measurements - but this is not true. The "global mean temperature anomaly" is an average of many temperature station data, which is compared to similar averaged data in a set period of time (usually 30 years). The outcome, especially in how temperature graphs are presented, is quite misleading to the public and policymakers. This video is a reading of a publication written by Dr. John Christy and Dr. Richard Lindzen, originally published by the CO2 Coalition. The paper offers important insights on how global warming is presented in a manner that is skewed, showing that there's no climate crisis.

Recently there's been a sudden demarketing campaign against natural gas stoves, with the claim that they cause asthma and other medical ailments. Michelle Stirling does some "Cooking for Climate" with a home made soup, while pondering how it is that people haven't noticed this is the same template used for coal phase-out. In fact, Mother Nature is the largest emitter, and we all agree that noxious pollutants from human industry and fossil fuel use should be mitigated. But how can people ignore that millions of people suffer and die prematurely because they do NOT have access to high quality natural gas for cooking? Millions in Africa, Asia and India cook over open flames in their homes, exposed to secondary aerosols, PM2.5 and more. Michelle suggests looking at climate change as a marketing scheme on many fronts - for instance, she points out that in 2019, it was reported that induction stoves were not selling well. Now, suddenly, they are 'the answer'... Please help us continue our work by sending an etransfer to: contact@friendsofscience.org

COP28 is the global climate 'conference of the parties' going on in Dubai, UAE, and yes, it's a party. But at this party there will be a push for exponential expansion of renewable energy, a 'doubling' of progress on emissions efficiency (think heat pumps) and a reduction in methane - at huge expense to you for little gain. Why? Because 40% of methane emissions are natural! Michelle Stirling, Communications Manager for Friends of Science Society, reads through Robert Lyman's observations about these negotiations and the sticking points. COP28 - It's all about the party, the grand theatre, the media headlines - and that's about all. Subscribe to our channel to keep up with the next video in the series! Dr. Katharine Hayhoe was in Calgary in March, along with "Climate George" Marshall of the UK. Their mission was to get Albertans to give up facts and evidence and talk about how climate change had affected them personally - they referred to the Calgary flood of 2013 as the best example. Except, the Calgary flood of 2013 was not due to climate change - it was just one in a long string of floods dating back over more than a century. For a show and tell example, Friends of Science Society's Communications Manager, Michelle Stirling, goes to Prince's Island Park to illustrate how a great idea for a cultural island there was foiled by common sense.

On June 24, 2019, twenty-eight Canadian law professors sent an open letter, [http://ubccle.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Climate-Litigation-LawProfsLetter_final2-1.pdf] demanding a Climate Accountability Litigation law so that cities and other such organizations could sue global Big Oil companies for 'climate damages'. They claim extreme weather events, like flooding, is caused by human influence on climate - something that is untrue according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) SREX - Special Report on Extreme Weather. They claim that society has to bear 100% of the brunt of climate costs - in the meantime these ingrates don't realize that their own universities and faculties are propped up with millions of dollars in donations from Big Oil, oil philanthropists and thousands of oil/gas supply chain companies, entrepreneurs and donors. Friends of Science issued a report entitled "Case Dismissed" which exposes the fallacies of these law professors' claims on climate science. Case Dismissed – An Open Letter to Law Professors Pushing for Climate Accountability Legislation in Canada Robert Lyman, one of our contributors, also issued his own report "Energy Illiteracy Must Not Be Enshrined in Law" Energy Illiteracy v Climate Law – A Response To “An Open Letter on Climate Accountability Litigation in Canada”

Dr. Michael Connolly and his son Dr. Ronan Connolly have done an in-depth assessment of weather balloon temperature records. In this video, Dr. Michael Connolly explains that there is a significant difference in temperature between urban temperature monitoring stations and those in rural settings. This is well-known as the "Urban Heat Island" effect, where the heat generated by human activity, as well as the absorption of heat from the sun on black pavement and concrete, is retained in a kind of heat 'bubble' around a city, while in the country, daytime heating is dissipated by evaporation and wind. To find out to what extent the claim of 'global warming' is affected by this phenomenon (which might be an artificial claim), the Connolly's sought an independent data source that would not be affected by urban/human activity - they chose weather balloons. Dr. Michael Connolly discusses their findings. Their full presentation can be seen here on our blog: Balloons in the Air: Understanding weather and climate. https://blog.friendsofscience.org/2019/08/17/balloons-in-the-air-understanding-weather-and-climate/
