Feeding Beef Cattle with the 51 John Deere Model A
Last year, I used the 630 to feed with. However, I thought it would be fun to try the A as well. I think the A is one of my favorite two-cylinder models.
In this video I'm feeding beef cattle (Herefords and Angus) with the A and a custom-made feeder. The feeder used to be a round bale bagger. I converted it to work with the 3x4x8 large square bales. Bales are loaded with a 3020 PowerShift. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4xv3yJylKE
In this video I give a walk-around and explanation of the equipment we use to get the hay crop in.
The hay equipment consists of a CaseIH WD2303 Windrower (swather), Ford F-350 7.3 Diesel, John Deere 4640 with Hesston 4790 large square baler, John Deere 5020 with wagons, John Deere 4020 Diesel PowerShift with loader, John Deere 3020 Diesel PowerShift with loader, John Deere 2010 Utility with three-point hay rake, and a John Deere 4230 with Hesston V-Rake.
Getting the hay crop up isn't an easy task. It takes a lot of man hours and is quite labor intensive. You're also fighting the weather & hoping to beat the next storm, as a simple rain storm can really damage a good hay crop.
Anyway, the dialog is unscripted, so please forgive any muttering and mistakes. :)

This is a brief video from some of the rides I've been on so far (December 2021).
This year I put a Timbersled track kit on my Honda CRF 450x. It's a very different experience than the snowmobile, but it has been a lot of fun. Compared to a sled (snowmobile) it has its ups and downs. The later part of the video shows some of the footage from the bike.
The video shows my cousin riding both the bike and the sled. It's his first year doing rides on the larger sled. I've been quite impressed by his skill level and ability to handle the machine.

This is a test video I took with the iPhone app "8mm". I've converted a lot of real 8mm video in the past, so I was curious how true the effect would be. I think it seems a little much--but they do have different "lenses" you can use on it. The video of of my dog Tip and the beef cattle.

This is a ride-along video of taking the 1936 Farmall F-30 on a drive over the rolling hills of the dry farm (non-irrigated fields that sit at the base of the national forest). It was a beautiful day, and the slow pace of the F-30 makes for an enjoyable drive.

Chisel plowing with the John Deere 4640.
This is just a quick little video I put together of some fall tillage work with the 4640.

Another video from feeding the beef cattle. We've had a bit of a break from the cold and the snow became soft. Feeding with a 1972 John Deere PowerShift.

Raking alfalfa with a 1957 John Deere 420 Utility with under exhaust. The video was shot with a DJI Phantom 3 drone. The purpose of raking the two rows together is so the big baler can more easily bale them up. I use a Hesston 4790 3x4 big square baler. The model 420 is the predecessor to the John Deere Model M.

A little video footage of the John Deere Model A and Farmall Model M. It's interesting seeing them both together as they were both direct competitors for their time (at least with the late gas-only A). DJI Phantom 3 drone footage.
