I've upgrade from a plastic mobile phone clamp suitable for a tripod etc to a nice aluminium 360 degree clamp made by Woohot, the JL1618 I got mine from Amazon for £18.99 It really is a nice piece of kit, fully aluminium and has enough mounting holes to be really useful as you can add on perhaps a mic stand or lamp holder.
It was getting a bit annoying having to keep unplugging my laptop PSU from the multiway power connector once it had charged up or when I had finished using it. What I really wanted to do was to just switch off this PSU but leave other devices plugged into the same multiway powered up. So this is where the J Electro came in. Each of the 5 outputs can be individually switched and when they are turned on a neon illuminates in the respective switch. It is rated at 3.2kw max, has a 1.8meter cable with a British plug but is NOT surge protected Never the less still a great addition for me. I've just bought another one for a different zone of the house and if all goes well possible a third. It cost £17.99.

Hi, this is a quick follow-up video for the Evolution R255SMS-DB double bevel, mitre chop saw I unboxed a few weeks ago.
I've been using it to cut metal mainly but today I needed to cut some oak sleepers.
The saw is rated at 90mmx300mm cut so I was asking a little too much for it to cut a 100mm thick oak sleeper but it did nearly cut all the way though! I had to finish it off with a hand saw but that wasn’t a problem.
In the video after the wood cut, I show a couple of cuts of metal.
Would I recommend the saw? Yes, absolutely. I still need to see how long the blades last but so far so good.
Remember if you sign up to the Evolution newsletter on their web site and “like” them on Twitter and Face book you earn Evo points. I did this and saved over £30 on the purchase of this saw and stand. I couldn’t buy the saw cheaper anywhere else.

After fitting and running the Roamerdrive for a while I'm trying to tidy up the gear stick area and reduce a bit of the engine/gearbox noise. This video shows where I am with it at the moment. There will be further attempts so keep watching!

When I need to find the centre of a piece of square tube or simply need to the middle of a piece of flat stock, I always seem to have an issue. I used to use blocks to roughly find the centre line, mark the tube then turn it over and mark again. Then I would divide those 2 marks to find the center. Now I have bought a digital Vernier height gauge from Banggood which has significantly improved both the speed and accuracy for me. The gauge cost me less than £30 delivered to the UK. I’m very happy with the purchase and the quality of the item. As stated, I don’t not have the need to work to fractions of millimetres but this device will certainly be a step to improved accuracy for me!

I have an oil tank that feeds the central heating system and AGA cooker. There is a Watchman level sensor that sends an indication of fuel level to a receiver that is indoors. Unfortunately the batteries on the sensor unit have failed. I show how they can be replaced saving about £40 over a new battery unit!
All you need is an adjustable spanner and 4 good quality AAA batteries.

This is the fourth (short) video in the series showing the Deployable step project for my Land Rover Defender TD5. I looked on the Web at just about every store but was unable to find what I needed so I ended up making them!
In this video I show you a spot of plug wiring used for the deployment of the steps when the door/s are opened on the truck.

I needed to be able to accurately measure a 45degree mitre cut on some wood during the creation of another project and realised I didn't have anything in the workshop that I could use. A quick search on Amazon showed many options and to my mind the Presch seemed to be a good buy. There are more expensive items listed, and a lot of cheaper ones. These were middle of the road so I bought them. The quick video shows what I got for my money and how I did a basic checked to see if they were any good. Remember there are 2 squares in the set!

A few years ago I started to put together an ammo tumbler to clean some used brass cases to save some money over factory bought rounds. Well this was a project that didn't get finished. Until today!
You can see from the video its a straight forward build. And largely from scrap I had lying around.
Cleaning ammo is new to me so I'll be working on the mix of cleaning media I use but in the video I used the following:
Squirt of washing up liquid, squirt of dish washer rinse aid, 2 teaspoons citric acid crystals, 1kg of 1x10mm stainless pins and 1.5litres of hot water and then tumbled it for 30 minutes.
The brass came out well, it just needed the pins separating and the whole drying.
I've listed a few of the items I used below but you don't "need" a timer although its handy. I built the rig around the keg I bought, a sample one is listed below as I cannot find the original.
The timer, FRM01 was a 24volt timer. The FRM01 come in 5, 12, and 24volt varieties, make sure you pick one to suit.
