"Measuring 'Nothing' and Getting It Right" - a symposium in honor of the physics career of Dr. Stuart Freedman (http://freedman2014.org): Dr. Yury Kolomensky (Professor at the Department of Physics, University of California at Berkeley and the Physics Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory) speaks about measuring the neutrino mass hierarchy and Dr. Freedman's contributions towards this effort.
UC Berkeley has taken global warming and environmental protection seriously, establishing many new energy-related research centers, including the new Energy Biosciences Institute, which will focus on better technologies for producing biofuels — fuels made from plants. The campus has also set new requirements for campus conservation, and students are directly involved in the process. (7:00 min.) Contact: Roxanne Makasdjian, UCB Media Relations
