Freestyle swimming workout #2. Technique, distance per stroke and speed. Beginners
Welcome back to our workout videos! Today we will go over a roughly one hour freestyle practice. We will do some drills to improve your swimming technique, distance per stroke and some speed. it is 1900 meters or yards long.
If you try this workout please leave a comment to tell us your impressions. If you do like these workout videos we will keep posting more, so leave a thumbs up.
Almost every swimmer reinforces their training with some kind of exercise outside the pool. There are many options available for your land workouts and it varies from age and accessibility of a coach.
On this video we will talk about what I think is the most common which is going to the gym.
These are my favorite exercises for each group muscle.

First swim meet in 3 years. I don't swim more than 500 meters a week. I don't post this to brag, just to show how important swimming technique is. You can still be kinda fast even if you don't swim tons of meters as long as you have a good swimming technique. That is what I try show and help you improve in my youtube channel.

Today’s tip is called catch up swim. If you want to swim faster but with even less effort you need to maximize your stroke effeciency. Many would think that if you pull harder then you can move farther with each stroke, and they are not wrong but there is a better easier way!
Try this. For this exercise wait until your arm finishes the pull to start pulling with your other arm. While you pull make yourself longer by reaching forward with your other arm. Do this a couple of times too see how you can move easily through the water while your other arm waits. When you swim, don’t wait until you other arm comes back completely, start your other pull when your hand passes your head. Or just think of holding that arm in front a little longer.
If you want proof that this works just watch Ian Thorpe break the 400 world record. In the first 50 alone he took 22% less strokes as the guy who got second.
Thorpe took 27 stroke :: The guy who got second took 35 strokes.

On this video we will go over some subtile things you can improve in your butterfly technique that can help swim faster. We will focus on hands, chest and knees.
The hands in swimming are like the blade of an oar.
The chest is important because this is where the butterfly kick originates.
The knees just like the chest can be a part of the body that gets forgotten.
To change any part of your stroke it requires a lot of repetition. So practice one thing at a time often and feel the improvement. Once you dominate one thing go on to change the next one.

1 Butterfly kick, 1 breaststroke pull, 1 breaststroke kick.
The most important thing is to keep your body tight and in a horizontal position. Your streamline should be extremely compact. You only have one butterfly kick so make it count by doing a strong one. Your arms will pull as much water as possible and will come down to the sides of your body. From there you must shrug your shoulders and pause a little bit. Now you will recover your arms the closest way to your body as possible. The kick goes at the same time as the recovery of the arms. What the kick does is to give you that final push forward and up to break the surface of the water.
The Breaststroke pull out is all about actions and pauses.
