Recently after coming out to the car I was greeted with the error message, “Autopilot Features Limited, If Issue persists contact Tesla Service” I did a soft reset by holding the two scroll wheels, I powered down the car for a few minutes, verified the cameras didn’t have any dirt or other coverings. None of this made the message go away so I called Tesla Service since we had a long trip coming up the next day. While on hold with Tesla I noted they brought back the option to press 8 for a call back while keeping your place in line. While working the phone tree menu I noticed that autopilot wasn’t completely disabled as it had been in previous incidents where there was an error message containing the word Autopilot, sensor, camera, or radar, it did not use either side’s forward or rearward facing autopilot cameras. Tesla called back and told me it was the left B-pillar camera, and the rear camera over the license plate that were returning errors. I washed my Model X P100D at the touchless carwash then I pulled over, dried the cameras, and re-reset everything again, including powering the car down. After doing all this the message did not go away, so I went home and parked the car. Water started to fall from the sky, so I set out to make an FSD Beta in the Rain video, but instead the flow slowed and I made an FSD Beta 10.6.1 in some drizzle video instead. FSD Beta 10.6.1 is found in Tesla Software Update 2021.36.8.10, for my routes it is effectively interchangeable with FSD Beta 10.5, it feels a bit smoother but includes all the new annoyances that 10.5 brought with it. It hasn't refused to operate in the rain for me like 10.4 and 10.5 did though. For this video I take the car on some short errands, first to ship some parcels, grab some lunch, and to check out furniture. Everything went smoothly until time to return home where one of the side cameras claimed to be malfunctioning, I suspect a water drop or similar since there was nothing that should have confused the FSD Computer. Remember this car isn't fully autonomous, it is performing under my supervision the whole time. I did have to take over a few times but there were no showstoppers such as turning into the oncoming lane though it does try to make maneuvers that are either illegal or enough to incite road-rage, there were quite a few maneuvers you wouldn’t want to see in the final product but since I was there ready to take over, they were non-issues. Braking performance was usually very smooth but there were spots where the machine was a bit heavy on both regen and friction, the software continues to improve, this tech will be improving faster than we can comprehend and I can't wait to review FSD Beta 11! There were no segments where fsdbeta raked the wheel hard right and left this time, but the system sorts itself out when that happens (and it still does just not in this video and it is starting to happen in fewer places). Using this version of Tesla FSD Beta 10.6.1 in the rain, was comfortable when compared with its daytime and nighttime dry performance, much like FSD Beta 10.2 and 10.3 performance felt the same as in normal conditions. We didn't get a download of FSD Beta 10.6 we went straight from 10.5 to 10.6.1 After uploading this I drove it again in another drizzle in the dark, the wipers overreactied as usual so the car was in and out of FSD adn Navigate on Autopilot, especially after passing trafffic lightsor ending up in the wash of a trailer or even just some small cars.
