I'm often asked how much electricity a typical TBM consumes per day and what systems can be used to power Prufrock with batteries. Although I think its a difficult task it is possible to do this today based on the calculations I presented, however I believe the best option is to stick with the current setup until either batteries become more economical or charging times can be significantly improved underground. All my numbers today are based on two traditional TBMs with a limited understanding of the variations they encountered on a daily basis. All my calculations are a rough estimate and should be considered as nothing more than ball park figures rather than solid statistics.
