The raw DVR from the fatshark is exported via DaVinci Resolve as a TIFF sequence at the original resolution of 640x480. It was then upscaled with Topaz AI Gigapixel ( https://topazlabs.com/ai-gigapixel/ ) and re-imported into Resolve, and scaled where needed. This does take a while to compute... and I'd like to try it at higher resolution via on-board DVR to get rid of the analog video wireless transmission noise. If I can get acceptable HD-ish video from something that is less than 30 grams AUW... I'll be happy.
This is a 2X scale w/ High noise and blur reduction. Next I'll try a 4X scale in daylight.
This is my original inspiration to try this; https://youtu.be/hInQkqmjn48

A ride-along with a nocturnal nutjob. My fast lenses are all crappy vintage primes, so don't expect good focus here.

Been a while since I've flown anything. Needed an HD toothpick-class quad in a pinch, so I literally settled for the Larva-X HD, cause everything is out of stock everywhere. I took it out of the box, squeezed it a bit and immediately got upset about the garbage "carbon" (pfff!) frame and ordered a suitable replacement. Ended up doing a total rebuild, replaced all the M2 hardware with stainless and did another direct solder job for the motor wires (so annoying and tiny). I flashed all the things and I'm trying to figure out a tune, which is okay; gusty day isn't helping.

All said and done, it's not great... but I have two of them. I'm going to tweak and fly the nuts off it all cause this is a damn hobby, and I occasionally enjoy it.
Laugh all you want about my little pony color scheme... you'll never find these colors in nature, unless you crash up a sakura tree in Japan. I've never lost a quad despite trying really hard!

@2:40 A second, faster flight seems to benefit a bit more from this processing. YouTube eats up a ton of the quality and introduces strange temporal echoing, so overall it's not worth the 4 additional hours of CPU time. I don't have an "Insta360 GO" camera, so I can't tell if this could be of solid benefit to the original video, strait out of the camera. It matters a lot where in the chain of video production; at what step the AI upscaling is done. TL's VEAI seems to use a lot of edges and other characteristics of video that aren't perceptible by human eyes. Heavy video compression removes this imperceptible information, especially as the bitrate gets lower. The resolution seems to matter a lot less than the blockiness of the encoding; after all this technology was adapted from still image techniques.
