Our lead story: The crash in oil prices isn’t just hurting economies abroad. It’s very much taking a toll on Americans here at home, especially in Texas – a state driven, in large part, by the oil industry. The latest report out of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas shows manufacturing activity declined in March with the production index falling to its first negative number in nearly two years. Boom Bust guest host Ameera David weighs in.
Then, Erin sits down with Gerald Posner – author of “God’s Bankers: A History of Money and Power at the Vatican.” Gerald tells us how the Vatican Bank evolved from a rudimentary financial institution, relying mostly on donations, into an institution that rivals Wall Street investment banks.
After the break, Erin is joined by Bryan Caplan – professor of economics at George Mason University and blogger at EconLog. Bryan talks to us about the US immigration debate and gives us his take on why we don’t see more libertarianism and pacifism in mainstream politics.
And in The Big Deal, Ameera and Erin discuss Airbnb and Google.
