Are gloves required when installing lamps ?
Touching the surface of a lamp with bare fingers will leave oil or grease on the surface - but will this cause problems and should gloves be worn when installing lamps?
For halogen capsule lamps which operate at very high temperatures, the grease can cause failure of the glass. For everything else, it makes no difference.

Small wooden fusebox. Originally this would have contained two rows of fuses, however one row has been removed and replaced with a single terminal for the neutral wires.
Fuses and holders are ceramic, with the remains of rubber insulated wires attached. The cloth pads behind the fuses probably contain asbestos.
The plastic neutral terminal was probably fitted in the 1950s or later, as double pole fusing was discontinued around 1955.
