Haiku is the shortest form of poetry. The goal of this poetry is to communicate the poet’s immediate experience. Of course the audience didn’t experience what the poet did, so the trick is how it makes the audience use their memories to fill in the gaps. Each individual reader will have a unique image in response to the same poem.
To get the most out of this experience just absorb yourself in the images that your mind naturally creates from the words…

Welcome to the last episode of this narcissistic personality disorder series. In the beginning we looked at Freud’s contributions from On Narcissism, where we see a self-love aimed at an ego-ideal which makes all important people in the narcissist’s life a means to an end. Achieving the ego ideal. As the child grows up the true self is never developed and a mask used for the public is identified with, which is the False Self. As the False self is challenged in a competitive ruthless environment, the narcissist learns from trial and error how to use politics and leverage to get his or her way. So far we have looked at how inhuman the narcissist is. The robotic quality and lack of empathy, but the narcissist is a person. When someone is far away from the narcissist they can feel sorry for their bad childhood, but when you are a victim it is impossible.

One of the biggest problems of meditation is maintaining consistent concentration. Sitting down and meditating is not a simple business and many teachers talk about mental maps that take years to traverse for most people, or not at all. As any good psychologist will know, there are many minds in our psyche and they run automatically throughout the day. They make decisions for us. They are our counselors and tormentors. These minds are based on addictive conditioning to follow their advice, based on advise we've gotten from our family and culture, mixed in with direct or indirect threats to remove pleasurable attention if we don't comply.

Like in his book on dreams, Freud begins "The Joke and Its Relation to the Unconscious" with a survey of expert opinions on the workings of humour. They include novelist Jean Paul, psychiatrist Emil Kraepelin, and philosophers, Theodor Vischer, Kuno Fischer, and Theodor Lipps. Their opinions include ways to view humour as "playful judgment", "a free play of ideas", "sense in nonsense", "bafflement and light dawning." Lipp emphsizes brevity, "wit says what it does say, not always in few, but always in too few words." This allows the listener the pleasure to figure things out. With more depth some of the opinions move closer to where Freud is heading. To have wit is to have "the ability to...find hidden similarities", and "linking two ideas which in some way are contrasted with each other."

This is part 3 of the Narcissistic Personality Disorder series. This episode dives deeper into the psyche of a Narcissist and if you don’t understand them now, by the end of this video you will. The value of this knowledge has to do with consciousness. When you don’t know how you are being manipulated, it’s easy to be confused and helpless. Making abuse conscious, or making anything conscious for that matter, allows you the opportunity to take your control back.

Helene Deutsch was one of the early women who absorbed Freud's ideas and added some of her own. More of an acolyte than some later commentators, she deeply understood the way masculine and feminine roles have a fundamental connection to self-esteem and confidence. Taking a balanced view, she allowed for people to find other options than just instinctual satisfaction.
