What SpaceX & Falcon 9 Can't Do Better Than Alternatives
SpaceX and Falcon 9 have made huge changes to the launch market, they've become the best vendor for many commercial payloads through a combination of price and performance. However, it's important to understand the limits of the hardware so I wanted to discuss where the Falcon 9 comes up short compared to their competition at the ULA. (not hating on SpaceX or ULA, just trying to put the numbers out there and stop people saying dumb things) ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoUtgWQk-Y0
I like roguelikes, I like indie games, so when someone told me to try this I wasn't going to say no. A bit of a change from spaceships, but man cannot live on spaceships alone!
It's still in development and you can buy the game through their website (and get a steam key) for $15

The iconic Arecibo observatory has suffered a second cable break and now the engineers who were trying to reinforce the structure think that it's no longer safe to try and save the structure. The National Science Foundation which has been funding the installation for decades have decided to authorize demolition of the historic structure to avoid damage to other parts of the facility.

Eve Online is famous for being huge, complicated and not necessarily newbie friendly, so after several half asses tutorial videos where I kept on skimming over things I decided to do an in depth play through of what the new pilot should be doing. This is an epic series of videos with unedited gameplay and lots of talking from me, hopefully some of this rubs off on you.
You can find out more about Eve Online from the developers site

The Mars Science Laboratory has been on Mars since 2012, and has travelled 20km across the surface, inside Gale crater looking for clues to the history of the region which is well suited to unravelling the history of Mars as a whole. I wanted to use a few different tools to give you an idea of where the rover is, and how it got there.
Or rather I've been messing with this stuff for the last week and really wanted to make a video of the bits and pieces I have.
Here's the official tool showing the map and allowing a few sites to be inspected in 3D

With the bad guys (well they may not be bad, but they're my enemy so I'll call them bad) heading into my territory, we need to do something to win this war.

Launching a spy satellite to spy on the other space center, this mission shows off polar orbit launches, decoys and chaff, the fixed camera mod, steering via reaction wheels and cross range capability in a return vehicle.
Ok... I had to come up with a reason to show off reaction wheels at work.

A Cycler is a station which is placed on an orbit that repeatedly encounters 2 bodies and provides living facilities which can be used while in transit. The idea is that the mass heavy living facilities don't need to be accelerated and decelerated every time a spacecraft makes the journey, just dock to it, chill out for a week, or maybe even months. Then leave when you get to the target, similarly the return journey involved a rendezvous and docking.
This particular design's orbits are far from ideal, and lead to inefficient maneuvers, in part because of the large munar SOI I have to avoid encounters and in part because the distances are so short.
