PAIS Y ADJETIVO
England - Inglaterra
English - inglés
Northern Ireland - Irlanda del Norte
Northern Irish - irlandés del Norte
Scotland - Escocia
Scottish - escocés
Wales - Gales
I'm English and I speak English.
I'm Scottish and I speak Scottish.
I'm Welsh and I speak Welsh.
I'm Northern Irish and I speak Irish.

He doesn't listen closely. - (Él) no escucha atentamente.
Did we talk too quickly? - ¿Hablamos demasiado rápido?

The children sang carols sweetly. - Los niños cantaron villancicos dulcemente.
They made breakfast quickly. - Hicieron el desayuno rápidamente,
She didn't iron his shirt carefully.
Carefully, John opened the box. - Cuidadosamente, John abrió la caja.
John opened the box carefully.

I DON´T KNOW
- Where´s Bill Café? -¿Dónde está el Café Bill´s?
- I don´t know. - No lo sé.
don´t = do not
- Where´s Bill´s Café? -¿Dónde está el Café Bill´s?
-I´m sorry. I don´t know. - Lo siento. No lo sé.
o, al revés:
- I don´t know. I´m sorry.
I THINK
- Where´s the police station? - ¿Dónde está la comisaria?
- I think it´s in Old Street. - Creo que está en la calle Old.
Fíjese en los siguientes ejemplos:
- Where´s the nearest shoe shop? -¿Dónde está la zapatería más cercana?
- I think there´s one on the left. - Creo que hay una a la izquierda.
- Where´s the nearest swimming pool? - ¿Dónde está la piscina más cercana?
- There´s one in Water Street and I think there´s one in the park.
- Is that a house over there? - ¿Es aquello una casa?
- No, I think it´s a church. - No, creo que es una iglesia.
- Is he Australian? -¿Es australiano?
- No, I think he´s American. - No, creo que es americano.
- Is this a dollar? -¿Es un dollar?
- No, I think it´s a pound. - No, creo que es una libra.
- I think it´s a prison. - Creo que es una cárcel.
- No, it isn´t. It´s a school. - No, no lo es. Es un colegio.
- Is that Tom? -¿Es ése Tom?
- No, I think it´s Paul.

I can touch my toes. - Puedo tocar los dedos de mis pies.
They can ride very well.
I prefer to go out at the weekend. - Prefiero salir los fines de semana.
They need to buy some milk. - Necesitan comprar algo de leche.
I want to see a film.
would + like + `to infinitivo´
What would you like to do? - ¿Qué te gustaría hacer?
I'd like to stay at home tonight. - Me gustaría quedarme en casa esta noche.
Where would they like to go? - ¿Dónde les gustaría ir?
They'd like to go to the beach.
would like + to be able + `to infinitivo´
I'd like to be able to hear the music. - Me gustaría poder oír música.
She would like to be able to go home. - (A ella) le gustaría poder ir a casa.
They'd like to be able to drive. - Les gustaría saber conducir.
Observe la diferencia entre los siguientes significados:
would + like + to be able to = el deseo de saber o poder hacer algo
I´d like to be able to play outside. - Me gustaría poder jugar fuera.
He'd like to be able to get up late. - (A él) le gustaría poder levantarse tarde.
We´d like to be able to swim. - Nos gustaría saber nadir.
would + like + `to infinitivo´ = el deseo de hacer algo
I'd like to play chess tonight. - Me gustaría jugar al ajedrez esta noche.
She'd like to sleep all day long.
We'd like to swim in the lake.

It is near the sea. - Tengo una habitación. Está cerca del mar.
I've got an uncle. He speaks French.
I've got a room and it is near the sea.
I've got an uncle and he speaks French.
which - Se utiliza únicamente para animales y cosas.
who - Se utiliza únicamente para personas.
Veamos cómo las frases anteriores se unen con los pronombres relativos which y who, que sustituyen a los pronombres personales it y he, por lo que actúan como sujetos de los verbos:
which/who = información adicional
I've got a room which is near the sea.
I've got an uncle who speaks French. - Tengo un tío que habla francés.
También se utilizan which y who para referirse a personas, animales y cosas en plural:
He's got some dogs. They are very old. - (Él) tiene unos perros. Son muy viejos.
He's got some dogs which are very old.
She's got two sons. They go to school. - (Ella) tiene dos hijos. Ellos van a la escuela.
She's got two sons who go to school.

He is speaking to them. -- (Él) está hablando con ellos.
