I was on tour down South with only 3 more shows to go, after the third last show I was loading all the gear back into the Van, as I reached down to pickup the kick drum (was heavy because it was full of bits and pieces) I felt a snap and heard it pop in my left arm, felt like a electric shock, then the pain kicked in. I had 2 more shows to go the next couple of days, so I managed to finish the shows using beer as a pain killer, it got me through but it was very difficult. The next few days was spent driving back home to QLD, I booked in to see the doc, he knew straight away what had happened, but he said I needed to get it fixed ASAP before it would be too late. So knowing me I didn't have private health insurance, couldn't go public because the waiting time would be too late. The only choice was to pay $7000 in a private hospital to get it fixed ASAP. Being a musician money doesn't come easy, but managed to borrow some thanks to great family. It had to be paid up front before the surgery.
So here's my experience through this whole procedure and healing, I will keep posting updates every few days. Watch right to the end if you don't mind blood.
