BAREFOOT LEAGUE 2024: LEAGUE RECEIVES OVER 17M BOOST IN EQUIPMENT FROM GERMANY EMBASSY.
The annual barefoot league played in Adjumani district and organized by Score beyond NGO has received a boost of over 17 million Uganda shillings in form of sports equipment from the Germany Embassy. The equipment that includes balls, boards, playing gear and others will be used in this year’s season. Since 2015, young people between the ages of 6 and 18 have gotten a chance to engage in sport for development at Adjumani Model Secondary School in Adjumani TC Adjumani district. This through the works of score beyond a sports ngo dedicated to using sport as tool and stepping stone to greater opportunities. Ugandans have been called upon to remain calm as security takes on the task of bringing the situation to normal in Kasese district.
This follows an armed attack on Lubiriha Secondary School at Mpondwe border that left over 35 students dead and others critically injured.
State Minister for National Guidance Godfrey Kabyanga appeals to Ugandans to stay calm and desist from associating the attack with the recent release of the Mumbere.
The attack happening just a few days after the King of the Rwenzuru Charles Wesley Membere was set free by the courts of law.
Kabyanga warns against connecting the two happenings
The news has been disturbing to the ears of many including leaders at both local and National levels.
Godfrey Kabyanga is the State Minister for National Guidance.
According to the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces, 37 bodies were recovered from the school compound.
The dead have since been taken to Bwera Hospital for postmortem.
Bereaved families are still coming to terms with the situation.

The government of Japan has donated 25 type B Ambulances to Uganda to support emergency medical services.
Minister for health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, received the ambulances from the Japanese Ambassador to Uganda, Fukuzawa Hidemoto, at the ministry headquarters in Kampala.
