Series Connection
what is the difference between cell and battery
Basically grouping can be done in series, parallel, or both at a same (that we call mixed grouping).
Series grouping is done to increase output voltage but this combination has it own advantages and disadvantages. Advantage is we can get large output voltage but disadvantage is internal resistance increases in series grouping.
To tackle with the problem of internal resistance we do parallel grouping. If we want to decrease internal resistance without varying output voltage this can be done only if cells are of same output voltage.
Let’s assume we are having ? batteries with EMF ?_1, ?_2, ?_3,………,?_? and internal resistances ?_1, ?_2, ?_3,………,?_? respectively.
Grouping is said to be connected in series if they arranged as shown in figure.
If ? current is flowing through the circuit and ?_??? is the external resistance.
Apply KVL in circuit 1
