Cheap(est?) Lithium MPPT Solar Charge Controller CN3722 - 12v Solar Shed
I've been trying to find the cheapest solar charge controllers the internet can provide for a little while. In previous videos I've been able to recommend some really cheap PWM solar charge controllers but the cheap MPPT versions have been fake. This time however I think I may have come across something which could be classed as Maximum Power Point Tracking.
I always try to listen to viewer feedback and this video is a direct result of that. I've previously wired my main battery bank in a ladder - but I could have done a better job.

The third version of my automatic grid tie switch built on Arduino. This version uses a Arduino Nano and a Nokia 5110 LCD display (84x48 pixels).
The automatic grid tie switch is designed to feed your solar panels to your charge controller until your batteries are fully charged. After which the system switches to feeding a grid tie inverter. If your battery level drops - it switches back again.
Stop throwing away your off grid solar energy and use it else where. Surely a better return on investment?

I've built a second version of the beautifully designed Arduino based solar charge controller by Julian Ilett. This version is hopefully less tricky to solder and uses a few less components - reducing cost and as it turns out power consumption.
In this video I talk about my modified design and show it being built.
Get the image of the design and the (ever so slightly) edited code from my website - http://admw.uk/ij

Thanks for watching, I'd love to hear your comments on the changes from v1.

I should have bought myself a pure sine wave inverter some time ago. The modified sine wave one I've been using for the last couple of years really isn't up to much.
AUDIO WARNING - There is some nasty noise from about 8 minutes in.
All the items used in this video were purchased from eBay.

After trying USB power banks, TP4056 modules and Arduinos to charge and discharge my Lithium Ion 18650 cells I decided to buy a proper charger. This charger was purchased from GearBest.Com but is available on Amazon and eBay: https://goo.gl/gUoIVE
This LiitoKala charger is one in a range of two and four cell chargers. They charge a range of cylindrical Li-Ion and NiMh AA & AAA cells. The Lii-300 engineer model includes a 'power bank' feature which currently is unique within the 2 cell range. The charger records the internal resistance of a cell, the accumulated charge (or discharge) in mAh and always shows the battery voltage.

Much of the PWM85 has been tried and tested many times by Julian Ilett ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmHvGf00GDuPYG9DZqQKd9A ) but I've had to implement a few changes in this design. I need to test the solar input schottky diode with a reasonable amount of current - and finally the sun is out.

I wanted to see if I could reduce the RFI being emitted by the EPEver SHI400 inverter which was delivered last week. I use four simple methods (perhaps a little haphazardly) with varying results.
Sorry - but due to the nature of the subject there is some audio interference throughout this video.
