ICStation 12x11 LED VU Spectrum Meter Kit Build part 3
Last time we finished assembling the main core components of the VU kit so now we can do the final (and most tedious) part of soldering the matrix of 132 surface mount LEDs ... I feel a soldering montage coming ...

Eksa was kind enough to send me another of their products to review. This time they are a pair of quite alien looking tws bluetooth earbuds (apparently they were going for the cobra look but I just cant get alien out of my head lol). Let's give them a run through and see how they hold up.

Handheld Legend very kindly sent me gbc and gba ips backlit lcd mod kits so in this video we upgrade my 32 pin gba. I do a comparison with my ags-101 lcd backlit gba that I modded ages ago. Since 101 lcds are becoming quite rare and expensive this ips lcd mod has become the defacto option but how does it fare and how easy is the install process. Watch to find out.

Can't sleep so I guess it's time for a mod. In this video I gut a cheap ebay psp 2400mAh (yeah right!) replacement battery that is pretty crap and rewire it to a legit 2500mAh lithium polymer batter from a usb power bank. Since permamodding my psp 2000 slim with cfw and a huge 64gb micro sd card I've no need for the internal umd drive so I figure the space is better utilized by a huge battery so I set out to reversibly mod my psp (that means no permanent cuts or modifications to the psp itself!) to do just that. Let's see if I run into any problems with this hack that should yield more than double the stock battery life!
Update: I've been playing the psp for around 4 to 5 hours and the meter still reads at 68%! Looks like I should conservatively surpass 12 hours of gaming at this rate.
As for selecting a battery, by my measurements the maximum size is around 65mmx73mmx10mm inside the umd bay so stay under those dimensions or the door wont shut.

... I know in the last video I just said I wouldn't mod this classic styled gameboy pocket but ... yolo! I can't help myself so while I am crossing that line I though it would be best to obliterate that line with all the bells and whistles.
Since the last RGB mod on my clear pocket came out working but very messy and crude this time I've taken the time to optimize a few things to make the perfect handheld.
Installed is my v2.2 RGB chip (with tweaked firmware to fix the random problem I was having with it not remembering settings due to gb pocket related power on fluctuations on the 5V rail), a select-able bivert which can be toggled by pressing and holding the touch sensor for 3 seconds or so, got rid of the separate 5V step up converter board by dimming the screen a bit, and greatly improved part placement to minimize wiring.
All in all I've been using this as my go to system and I couldn't be happier with how good the screen looks. If there is interest in me selling custom pockets like this one then let me know.

This is just an introductory video showing a crude proof of concept of a tiny motorized sand table I want to build into the size of a little usb powered desk trinket. I was inspired by videos on much larger/expensive sisyphus tables, but wanted one much cheaper/smaller/cuter. So here's some background to the idea, an outline of my main goals, some brainstorming on how I can achieve those goals, and finally some proof of concept demonstrations showing the viability of my ideas.

Found a proverbial load of perler beads at my thrift store so I thought it would be fun to make some sprite art to decorate my room. Let me know if you guys enjoy these kinds of random videos from time to time.

To start off, thanks to the video sponsor: JLCPCB for sponsoring this project. JLCPCB Prototype for $2 (Any Color): https://jlcpcb.com
Introducing the pocket HBD Converter! Never again have to suffer that evil windows calculator in programmer mode just to convert between hex, binary and decimal on the fly. Small on size, big on buttons (quantity not physical size)! Low power, runs off a single cr2032 with over a year and a half of estimated standby!
I do a lot of bitwise manipulation/math when programming micros so this little pocket calculator sized device will make it much easier to convert between bases without having to do it in my head or rely on microsoft's calculator. Sure it's not exactly feature rich, but it's dead simple to use and there's plenty of buttons and memory left to add other functionality like making it a proper scientific calculator, having it calculate fuse bits or whatever else your little heart desires. Also let me know how you guys like the new microscope soldering footage, I used the Andonstar microscope I recently received (check out the review if you are interested).
