I’m left-handed and this can pose a problem when using a normal Vernier as I tend to hold it upside down. Sometimes I read the 5’s as 2’s and visa versa. Do you have this "problem"? Can you buy left handed Verniers? Please let me know as I cannot find one. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbyGLzqlGe8
I've had a Ford 100e Anglia 2 door for a good few years now and to start with the "upgrades" went well until I bought a Land Rover. This is where everything slowed down!!
Today I dig the car out from the garage clutter and give you a quick tour of the engine which is incidentally a Ford 1600cc Crossflow married up to a type 9, 5 speed gear box.

I installed a safe into the cubby box in my Defender TD5 just after I bought it to put in the dash cam and other valuables as the Defenders are not renowned for their security. Unfortunately the lock failed in the safe last week and as my locking wheel nut tool is in there I needed to break in! The video describes how I did it.

I've had my Defender for a few years now but have only recently found a bit of a rain trap. It's at either end of the rain channel below the front windscreen. There is only a very small gap between this channel and the window block for the rain to run off, at least on my truck. I've found that this small gap gets blocked very easily so you need to keep an eye on this otherwise you'll find more rust holes than normal!!
As I said in the video it's possible I'm the last Defender owner to know this but never the less I thought I would highlight the issue.

I've owned a Ford 100e for many years now and the restoration has been slow. The engine isn't connected fully to the gearbox so movement within the garage is difficult. This is where the SGS wheel skates or dollies come in. At least now I'll be able to move the car sideways which will make access quicker and easier.
The skates cost £82 for 4 with next day delivery. If I made them the wheels alone would have cost over £80 so on this occasion its a no brainer to just buy them!

These skates look the same on Amazon but have a different brand name: https://amzn.to/3Lf7DO5
This video is just an unboxing and look at the skates, a further video will follow where I'll give the 100e a spin!
Thanks for watching ??
I'll link in that video when its uploaded.

You may have seen my earlier videos of the Roamerdrive install. The main reason for installing a tacho (rev counter) is to keep an eye on the revs of the engine as sometimes I’ll forget to select the Roamerdrive or if I have left the truck in 4th! It doesn’t happen often! Also, it’s a reminder on how much better the truck is with the Roamerdrive installed.
Anyway, my video’s (There are 2 parts to this build so keep a look out for them both) show what I had to do to get this cheap tacho working on my truck, that doesn’t have ABS brakes incidentally. It does make a difference as the cables are coloured differently but it can still be done either way. I’ve included links to useful sites and to my Google drive which contains images of the plugs which may help.
The connector I started at was connector (Black) C0658 plugged into the ECU under the driver’s seat (RH drive).
https://www.lrworkshop.com/connectors/defender-1999/C0658
Pin 19 cable (white and slate (grey) on mine) goes to connector C1048 Pin 14 on righthand side of the instrument cluster on my RH drive truck. The mating connector C1040 has no corresponding pin so I will need to add one. The pin type for the Sumitomo HD Series MT, DS, HD, HM 14-way connector (6098-0254) is 8230-4282 Male Terminals. I’ve included a link to eBay for these. These are suitable for .75-1.25mm cable.
I bought a cheap oil temperature gauge from which I expected to rob the white needle and put onto the tacho, this way all of the instruments will look the same.
Keep a look out for part 2 as it didn't work out for me! All ended well though in the end.
All information supplied as is. I’ve tried my best to pull all the info together and believe it is correct. If there is something missing or wrong, let me know and I’ll correct it. Remember this information is relevant to MY Defender, without ABS, yours might just be different!

We needed to move a lot of garden soil from a lower area of the garden we were re-modelling right to the top. It's quite a climb so I made a near automatic bucket lift. We cleared around 22 tons this way!

I've owned a Warco 300/2 lathe for over 20 years but recently my time using it has increased. So my mind has turned to doing a few upgrades on it to make it a little more usable. This series of videos shows how I fitted both scales/read heads to the lathe and the mounting of the display unit.
I only went for the 5 micron scales as I think in my case that would be fine for the work I do on the lathe, that and the fact the 1 micron scales are harder to get in the UK without being shipped from abroad and are twice the price.
The DRO display unit cost me £87 and the scales were around £50 each.
Keep a look out for the other parts of this series and for the video where I shortened the scales length on the X axis.

In an earlier video I told you I was creating a new project for my TD5 using air actuators. Well here it is, well part 1 anyway! I had originally fitted Brit Part tubular steps to the truck but they had rusted out after only 18 months so I was far from impressed. It dawned on me that why should only Disco owners have the luxury of deployable side steps? So I set about making some of my own because as far as I know there are no such steps like mine available to buy off the shelf. Part 1 is to show you how far I have got and to prove the concept. Part 2 onwards will then go into a little more detail on how I made the parts and control gear needed to make them fully functional. Follow the video series as I think it will be of interest to you even if you don't want to add steps to your Defender!!
Don't forget to give me a THUMBS UP and SUBSCRIBE. This gives me a boost to go onto making more content that I hope you will find interesting. Thanks. Hitting the notification bell will alert you to part 2 and other videos new to my channel.
