This is my son Caleb's mousetrap powered racecar. The car came in 1st place in his class's race by far, for distance not speed. It has ball bearings, pencils for axles and records for wheels. The chassis is made of paint stir sticks. We used a Victor brand mousetrap (requirement of the class), with a welding Rod soldered to the trap mechanism. As you can see, the car went a long way under its own power before it started coasting. Then it left the room and struck the wall! I think his teacher underestimated the size of the room we would need for the race. The distance from start to the wall was 83.5'. BTW, this was recorded after the actual race because during the race there were many kids in the way of getting a clear view.
This was our view of the eclipse in Kentucky. My children and I were able to look at the eclipse (in totality) with our bare eyes! In fact, I had no filter on the camera for this clip. At about the 7 o'clock position you can see a star come onto view when it gets dark enough.
