Dennis Showalter--Hitler's Panzers_ The Lightning Attacks
Title: Hitler's Panzers_ The Lightning Attacks Author: Dennis Showalter File Type: Mobi Subject:History Autobiography Description:
**A fascinating account of Nazi Germany's armored forces by the author of *Patton and Rommel*. **
Determined to secure a quick, decisive victory on the World War II battlefields, Adolf Hitler adopted an attack plan that combined tools with technique- the formidable Panzer divisions. Self-contained armored units able to operate independently, the Panzers became the German army's fighting core as well as its moral focus, establishing an entirely new military doctrine.
In *Hitler's Panzers*, renowned World War II scholar Dennis Showalter presents a comprehensive and unbiased study of Nazi Germany's armored forces. By delving deeply into a detailed history of the theory, strategy, myths, and realities of Germany's technologically innovative approach to warfare, Showalter provides a look at the military lessons of the past, and a speculation on how the Panzer ethos may be implemented in the future of international conflict.

Title: Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind
Author: Shunryu Suzuki
File Type: Mobi
Subject:Religon
Description:
In the beginners mind there are many possibilities, but in the experts there are few. So begins this most beloved of all American Zen books. Seldom has such a small handful of words provided a teaching as rich as has this famous opening line of Shunryu Suzukis classic. In a single stroke, the simple sentence cuts through the pervasive tendency students have of getting so close to Zen as to completely miss what its all about. An instant teaching on the first page. And thats just the beginning. In the thirty years since its original publication, Zen Mind, Beginners Mind has become one of the great modern Zen classics, much beloved, much re-read, and much recommended as the best first book to read on Zen. Suzuki Roshi presents the basics—from the details of posture and breathing in zazen to the perception of nonduality—in a way that is not only remarkably clear, but that also resonates with the joy of insight from the first to the last page. Its a book to come back to time and time again as an inspiration to practice.

Title: Paycheck
Author: Philip K. Dick
File Type: Mobi
Subject:Science-Fiction
Description:From Publishers Weekly
The moral and the atmosphere of the recent Paramount Pictures film Paycheck differ significantly from those in the original short story performed here—a fact obscured by the movie-poster packaging and one that might confuse listeners. Jennings, a mechanic, signs on at Retherick Construction, agreeing to be paid richly on the condition that his memory will be wiped clean of everything he did after he completes his two years of service. When he awakes, his memory erased, he discovers that he had declined the money in favor of seven seemingly random items which he must use to avoid the Special Police, who are investigating Retherick Construction. Narrator Dullea does a fine job of evoking the storys tension as well as Jenningss puzzlement over his situation. However, he lends the storys one female character a saccharine, whispery voice that detracts from the narration. Although this audio adaptation may please fans of the movie who are interested in seeing how the original story has been altered for the silver screen, those looking for an introduction to the authors works would do better to pick up the collection on which this audio is based, Paycheck: And Other Classic Stories.

PAYCHECK, originally written as a short story by Philip K. Dick and first published in 1953, centres on an electrician who wakes up to discover his employer has erased his memory of the past two years -- as a security measure. When he tries to collect his paycheck, he finds he has previously signed a release replacing the money with a bag of random objects. Previous film adaptations of Dicks short stories have included the box office smash hits MINORITY REPORT, TOTAL RECALL and BLADE RUNNER, released shortly after Dick died in 1982.
